In this fantasy novel, the dynamic duo is set on a quest to find a gateway between worlds. There seems to be a portal in a hidden library however it is secretly kept by a spirit and thus no one can enter. Kayden has to find a way to see this portal no matter who she faces, not even her new rival Jade. Some of the characters are familiar from the first work, but others are new or play a significant role. Without a doubt, my favorite is Jade, a brave, determined, and sensitive lovely girl who is always willing to help and get involved.When she meets the bull in Chapter Two, she doesn't really hesitate to fight him, but she also feels sorry for him. “This poor creature has been tortured. It doesn’t deserve any of this,” said Jade. She definitely displayed his sensitive side here.

A dragon is usually represented as a huge, bat-winged, fire-breathing, scaly lizard or snake with a barbed tail. The belief in these creatures apparently arose without the slightest knowledge on the part of the ancients of dinosaurs, which have some remblance to dragons. The second book in the series called Isles of Dragons: The Hidden Library, written by L. A. Thompson, presents a fascinating story about Jade and Kaylen who were childhood friends, and now life has turned them into rivals. Again, destiny has something planned for them and makes their paths cross once more. Located in a library, a hidden portal exists that can doom or save the world, and Jade and Kaylen are each racing to find it. Who will get to this ancient portal first? Well, this was certainly the question I asked myself at the beginning of the book, and it kept me hooked until the very end. dragon, in the mythologies, legends, and folktales of various cultures, a large lizard- or serpent-like creature, conceived in some traditions as evil and in others as beneficent. In medieval Europe, dragons were usually depicted with wings and a barbed tail and as breathing fire. In Greece the word drakōn, from which the English word was derived, was used originally for any large serpent ( see sea serpent), and the dragon of mythology, whatever shape it later assumed, remained essentially a snake.Jade is a profound, complex, passionate character who gets her chance to unfold much better through a steep contrast with the archetypical evil ruler, Jarod. Thompson's style fluctuates seamlessly between exact descriptions of the environments, machinery, mechanisms, devices, and creatures which, indeed, elevate the literary quality of the magical aura that the novel pretends as its own cornerstone; and, on the other hand, a quite exhilarating movement in the pace, accompanying the characters, especially Jade, to confront the chaos of war, and the powers of ancient spiritual knowledge.

The plot was common yet not so common. The thing that made this plot unique was the mixture of genres and various plot lines. I loved the book altogether but the way the author managed to combine the fantasy elements and other things into a compelling story, is really impressive.
