G-Sonic Ultrasonic Additive with bulb dropper. (1 oz/30 mL) Makes 60 gallons of G-Sonic treated distilled water. Emulsifiers: Holds the oils, dirt, mildew and microdust particles in suspension. Then the microfiber fabric cleaning pad wipes and pulls the dirt-filled solution from the record surface. Several cleanings using GrooveWasher G2 Fluid may be required to remove these difficult contaminants. The sound of the record improved significantly, but the stubborn stain still remained in part. Granted, this was a particularly stubborn record, but it seems a little spot cleaning is required here to remove the final surface grime. During the cleaning cycle, I did notice a fair bit of water surface tension. You could see how the water sat on the record surface and struggled to penetrate the groove.

It’s nice to see GrooveWasher’s continued commitment to developing new tools that complement their cleaning fluids and we can’t wait to test the new G-Sonic ultrasonic cleaning surfactant (watch this space). Add ten drops of G-Sonic concentrate to a gallon jug of distilled water. Replace the cap and shake for at least five seconds to mix. Add the mixed solution to your ultrasonic tank and proceed to clean your vinyl records per your desired methodology. This one ounce bottle of G-Sonic will make up to 60 gallons of ultrasonic bath. Some homemade remedies and even commercial record cleaning fluids contain isopropyl alcohol as one of the main ingredients. As a rule of thumb, if you can smell the alcohol, it is undoubtedly too much. This product is intended for hard surfaces only. Using this product on skin, eyes or clothing can cause irritation and is not recommended. Do not drink . Non-flammable. Environmentally non-hazardous.In my experience, the above, pragmatic approach is the best advice you can follow when cleaning used records. You have to remember, some of these records are decades old, who knows what might be lurking in the grooves after years of potential use and abuse.

The drying cycle worked fairly well, but a few droplets of water did remain on the surface. I dried the last couple of drops with a microfiber pad, but for me, this shows that a ten-minute drying cycle is a requirement. I struggle to see how five minutes would be enough. Cleaning Results: with added Surfactant These microscopic bubbles implode with such force that contaminants adhering to surfaces are dislodged. G2 does not fix scratches or scuffs. Once the signal in the microgroove is lost, nothing will recover it.Vintage records in less than mint condition often have scuffs and scratches. The GrooveWasher System does not fix scuffs or scratches. The GrooveWasher System cleans the record’s surface and microgroove to release the honest sound of that particular record. If the record is flawed, if the recording or pressing are not high fidelity, the GrooveWasher System will not improve it. GrooveWasher Record Cleaning Booklet.
