We capitalize "Wireless" for a reason—not because the word is a proper noun per se, but because the Xbox Wireless controller leverages Microsoft's wireless protocol called "Xbox Wireless." Though the name could benefit from some creative refinement, you can find comfort in the fact that, since 2016, the Xbox Wireless controller offers much-needed Bluetooth compatibility as well. Nintendo's perfectly hefty controller blows away the competition on battery life and has a layout that feels just a dad different from the Xbox pad. It's a good fit for basically any PC game that calls for a controller, and we'd recommend it to anyone who owns a Switch, too: it's so much more comfortable to use than a pair of Joycons. The Xbox One controller is slightly more complicated than the Series X|S controller, because it saw a mid-generation update that changed its internal hardware. We'll get to those changes in a second. But this first option, connecting with the official wireless adapter, will work with any Xbox One controller.
