It can get a bit dry at times, but the author does his best to make it interesting and explains at length the different phases of a product or feature development from inception to release, and gives good information on decision-making, leading teams and negotiating too, all while providing useful references to dive deeper. It is inspiring, funny, honest, and compelling, and definitely the one book that you and your team need to have within arm's reach throughout the life of your project.

A good requirements definition does not simply define how to solve a problem; instead, it identifies the problem clearly enough that someone with good expertise can work with confidence to accomplish it. The author tried to cover all kinds of projects and developments - it's supposed to be a good thing, but it makes it pretty hard to apply in real life. I would say its a must read for anyone who needs to get more of a "intuitive" understanding of how to run a project and deal with people, and who might not be the actual PM but more in a leading position.Berkun made me chuckle, made me think, and best-of-all, after just a few hours of reading, I found myself thinking of many ways I could make my team more effective and my products better. It starts off pretty technical with guidance on writing good deliverable specifications and ends with a big chunk on managing stakeholder relationships.
