The Pioneer DM-40 is a powered pair of 4″ studio monitors designed to give you exceptional sound for your home studio and DJ set-up. These curved edges produce minimum resonance that’s important to creating the clear sound that the speaker makes. If you want a cheap set of studio monitors that are loud with decent sound you can’t look past the DM40’s. If you need something for gigs, you should go with a more prominent speaker unless the gig requires you to play in a small, enclosed space.

With various inputs and even inbuilt Bluetooth on some models, is the DM-40 the ultimate speaker choice for those with limited space and budget?These little speakers deliver that in spades, and while they are definitely not for serious music production or for powering your next party (the frequency response isn’t flat enough for the former; they’re not loud enough for the latter), they fit their intended use well. The frontal curve edges are part of what contributes to the smooth and clear sound the speaker produces. Regular DM-40 speakers come with black bass drivers where as the Bluetooth models are painted silver, although visually different the sound remains the same.

A headphone output and volume knob on the front panel give you flexibility and control, while the RCA and stereo mini jack inputs on the back let you easily connect the speakers to your DJ or production kit. The DECO convex diffuser is mounted in the tweeters of the Pioneer DM 40, ensuring that the high-frequency content is distributed evenly in each direction.
