This is a standalone from Peter James, I have read a few of Peter James’s I have enjoyed them immensely. But it was the reference to Dan Brown as a comparison – and the fact I have never enjoyed Brown’s work – that confirmed as I turned the last page that this one wasn’t for me. Overall the tension builds and the stakes are so high it’s often bewildering when you put it down for a few moments. I would like to thank Net Galley and Macmillan for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.Readers must keep up with a lengthy dramatis personae, but there’s nothing wrong with making us work a little. Ross begins to investigate, this could be the biggest scoop of his career, but others are interested and will stop at nothing to get their hands on the evidence. With his well-honed curious nature, and look out for the next ‘big story’, Ross agrees to meet Dr Harry Cook, where he produces a manuscript he’d scribed from a direct message from God himself, through a medium.

It felt like his wife's behaviour in the beginning of the book was used as an excuse to why he was behaving like he was later on, even though years had passed. I liked the extreme characters who were so determined to get what Ross had, even though they all had very different reasons for doing so. i am impatient tho i read his last and wait too long for the next grace book, so inbetween i reads i read pete’s other stuff and it is pretty good too especially perfect people.

As for the DNA as prove that Jesus existed, how can you ascribe DNA to a person without the person being there? This latest entry shows how wise Rankin was to bring his curmudgeonly copper back from retirement after the mixed response to his books featuring Malcolm Fox of the Police Standards Bureau, excellent though they were. The false faith of a billionaire evangelist, the life’s work of a famous atheist, and the credibility of each of the world’s major religions are all under threat.

Considering the subject matter and constant mention of all the different Religions that have broadly similar beliefs you would have thought there would be more from them - but no.
