This show was the one that set up the television career of author David and made him popular. He made his writing debut with the children’s novel titled ‘The Boy in the Dress’. This book opened to the extreme popularity and acclaim after its publication in the year 2008. I'm sure the usual age group are going to be reading this in their droves, but I would recommend an older age range of 10-13 to this title. With warnings of sad/violent scenes and dark/disturbing themes to parents. I can easily say that David Walliams is one of my favourite Middle Grade Author's, and his partnership with Tony Ross is a match made in heaven. I honestly cant wait to see what they create next. This book was released by the Harper Collins publishers in the year 2010. The story of this novel appears to be an extraordinary and touching description from author David, who had already faced success with his previous novels called Mr Stink and The Boy in the Dress.

David Walliams is a popular author from England, who is famous for writing his works based on the Children’s Books and humor genres. Apart from being a noteworthy author, David is also popular as an actor, comedian, activist, and television personality. But my nearly 9-year-old listened along with me and his assessment was roughly similar to mine upon finishing. He just didn't enjoy it all that much. He found it dark and depressing (though there is nothing wrong with this is general), and I'm not sure he followed it completely, whereas usually he is a very close listener. I am a massive David Walliams fan, so I expected a lot from this book. As usual David Walliams and Tony Ross delivered the goods. I read the book as I had read odd chapters at bedtime with my daughter but couldn’t quite get the story so told her that I would read it when she had finished it. I’m good for my word! As well as his Children’s fiction, David has also published four number one bestselling picture books, his latest, The Bear Who went Boo! was published in November 2015 and has had total sales of over 85,000 to date. The Queen’s Orang-utan, David’s third picture book was written exclusively for Comic Relief with David giving all of his proceeds from the book to the charity.This was such a cute story and I loved the messages in this. They included trying to normalise people's differences, promoting that we all look different and that's a marvelous thing! As these two novels were very much successful, much more was expected from author David with the novel, Billionaire Boy. The central plot of the book revolves around a boy named Joe, who seems to have a number of reasons to be extremely happy in his life.

Wow! I believe that David Williams is a great writer where he writes books that are funny, emotional, happy and sad. But with a message behind them all.

Choose a background theme

There is a lot to like about this book. It’s different and the concept is very topical - a dystopian vision of the future with greedy, despotic types in control of the country. And I thought that the story followed some interesting twists and turns. This follows on from the success of Grandpa’s Great Escape, Awful Auntie, Demon Dentist, Ratburger and Gangsta Granny. All went straight to Children’s number one on release with Gangsta Granny and Billionaire Boy selling over a million copies to date. I didn't like the Audible version very much, the music used as bookends to chapters was annoying, a little 80s computer-sounding, and I think I'd have preferred to read an illustrated paper copy. I did find myself tuning out a few times, which I try very hard not to do. Between the years 1989 and 1992, author David studied at the Bristol University. During that time, he used to reside at the Manor Hall and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama in the year 1992. It was during the university holidays in the year 1990 that David met with his future comedy partner named Matt Lucas while performing at the National Youth Theater.

On many occasions, the literary style of author David has been compared with the likes of Roald Dahl. David was born in London to Peter Williams and Kathleen. His father was a transportation engineer in London while his mother used to work as a lab technician.David has proved himself as a dramatic actor in BBC2's 'Capturing Mary' with Dame Maggie Smith, in BBC1's Agatha Christie series 'Partners In Crime', as Frankie Howerd in the biopic ‘Rather You Than Me’ for BBC4, and on the stage in Harold Pinter’s 'No Man’s Land' starring alongside Sir Michael Gambon. He received the Comedy Award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his performance as Bottom in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ directed by Michael Grandage. By 'confused' I mean that readers may wonder if they are in fact reading Walliams, as well as being a little confused as the story progresses. There is nothing amiss about a writer branching out, sampling new genres and moving outside their comfort zone (comedic writing is clearly a genre Walliams can write almost in his sleep).
