The game will be played in exactly the same way as the original with the difference that Bolton, Wigan or Preston landmarks and street names would replace classic London locations such as Mayfair, Park Lane, Old Kent Road and Leicester Square. The rivals will fight it out in competition including an internet vote and a score based on how well their respective football teams have fared at the end of the season. If Bolton wins it would be the smallest place in Britain to be honoured with a Monopoly game of its own. Radio 1 DJs Vernon Kay and Sarah Cox hail from the town and makers of the game are impressed with the way they promote their roots. But Bolton faces strong competition from Wigan and Preston who are both in the running for the game, which will go into production in the summer and be on the shelves for Christmas.Promoter Graham Barnes said: "The underlining factor is that the board reflects the essence and spirit of Bolton, Preston or Wigan.
