It’s also good to see that, unlike just about every other manufacturer, Xiaomi can still produce glass phones at this price. It’s a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. In person, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G display compares at least fairly well with any phone at any price. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro provides you with an incredible photography experience, all in one smartphone device. It's in the details that the camera starts to let itself down, with features like focus and HDR not quite as good as they are on the mid-range or flagship phones that you'll have to pay more for. As you can see from the camera samples below, certain areas can get muddy and colors can be a bit drab, especially when you're out taking pictures in the middle of February in England.

In typical fashion, the speaker above the screen is less bassy than the one on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G’s bottom, but there is not a huge volume disparity here. That can make the sound seem lopsided in other phones.

I think this is likely the case here, too; but even after diving into the menus and singling out these audio apps as ones to be ignored by the battery management software, the problem wasn’t entirely resolved. Camera

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 clearly is not a perfect fit for this phone, even if its raw CPU and GPU power are perfectly okay. With a 6.43-inch display, the overall dimensions of the phone are 159.9 mm x 73.9 mm x 8.1 mm (that's 6.3 inches x 2.9 inches x 0.32 inches), and it weighs in at 179 grams (0.39 pounds). What you don't get – and we wouldn't expect it at this price – is full waterproofing and dust-proofing: with an IP53 rating, you get dust and splash protection but no more than that, so don't drop it in the sink. MIUI is mainly an aesthetic change with design tweaks to app icons, menu layouts and more - you can probably get the gist of this from the pictures accompanying the review, but it’d be even better if you could get your hand on a Xiaomi phone to test it out. The camera’s ISP, image signal processor, is also inferior. As we’ll cover in the camera section, it results in far worse image quality than its predecessor and a hard limit of 1080p/30fps video recording. These factors considered, the Snapdragon 695 starts to look like a budget processor rather than a mid-range unit. The Xiaomi Redmi 11 Pro 5G is the successor to what might just be my favourite phone of last year, the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Like many expensive smartphones, the Redmi Note 11 Pro combines 9 pixels of its 108 MP sensor into one pixel. The result is pictures that are supposed to be better in quality than a sensor with native 12 MP, according to the manufacturer. This impression cannot be confirmed directly in reality, but the photos of the main camera still make a good impression. With sufficient light, they are crisp and look convincing with rich, but not too gaudy colours. The 108 MP camera does seem to offer a strong marketing slant, but you will actually obtain better photos with the main camera than with the base model in practice. However, it is a shame that the manufacturer did not upgrade the other cameras and only offers Full HD for videos. Software & Updates: Redmi's Weak Points The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G has three rear cameras, a 108-megapixel main camera that uses the Samsung HM2 sensor, a basic 8-megapixel ultra-wide and a remedial 2-megapixel macro. It's the same story with the storage. The basic Note 11 Pro comes with just 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. That's awfully pokey for a 2022 phone, but there are two ways around that if you don't mind spending extra. You can spec 128GB storage, either with 6GB or 8GB RAM, or use the SD card slot that will support up to another 1TB of space.

There’s a fingerprint sensor mounted in an appreciably long and flat power button located two-thirds of the way up the right-hand edge. The Redmi Note 11 comes with a quad-lens rear camera made up of a 50MP wide lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth lens. On the front, there's a single 13MP wide lens which is good enough for straightforward selfie shots and video calls through whatever apps you want to use.Our review unit came in a rather gorgeous-looking Graphite Gray color, which manages to be both eye-catching and subtle at the same time. If you'd rather have a phone that pops a bit more, you can get the Redmi Note 11 in Pearl White and Star Blue, but for us, it's the gray color that's the most appealing. The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G runs on a Snapdragon 695 5G, which turns out to be an upgrade on the Snapdragon 732G used in the Redmi Note 10, despite Qualcomm’s unhelpful naming scheme. For even less cash, the Poco X3 Pro also trashes the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. However, in person it’s not too bad. It may also be responsible for the slight inconsistency of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G’s main camera, and its pretty poor handling of late afternoon/early evening images where the light level is mediocre but you’re not get in Night mode territory. These images often look dark and soft.

We took the phone for a spin with some games and found it played just fine, as long as we didn’t bump the graphics up to their highest options; it’s also fast enough for menu navigation and other simpler tasks.We captured a few too many blown-out skies, and it frequently fumbles dusk scenes. The phone has the tools to avoid the primary issues these scenes raise, but the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro doesn’t always seem to use them.
