Sainsbury's was one of the cheapest options but sadly had everything I dislike in a baked bean. I found the sauce was watery and sweet, with no detectable tomato flavour. What the label advises: Ensure the lid is closed and store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight (Sarsons Malt Vinegar) what the Food Standards Agency advises. Use common sense and sensory cues such as smell and taste to determine whether a food can be eaten beyond its 'best before' date. I was surprised that the beans themselves were quite soft, even before cooking. Personally, I prefer a more solid bean to avoid the catastrophic bean mush when cooking, so these were a little on the soft side for me.
