You can attach a phone using USB-C and use it to update firmware and manage the recordings that the Avata makes, but this isn’t necessary to fly or record video.

The video transmission latency varies with different goggles. DJI FPV Goggles V2 can achieve video transmission of up to 810p. When you use DJI FPV Goggles V2 with the 810p/120fps video transmission, the lowest video transmission latency is less than 28 ms.

However, the most exciting addition to the FPV drone is the DJI Goggles, and we’ll go over them in the next dedicated section. DJI Goggles 2The Avata has a nose-mounted camera for both FPV viewing and video capture. The lens has a wide view of 12mm in full-frame terms, and it’s a Type 1/1.7-inch with an F2.8 lens and boasts 64% more surface area to capture light than the ½.3-inch sensor of its predecessor. A bigger sensor means better low-light condition photos, but it also provides an improved dynamic range if you choose to shoot in D-Cinelike. Absorb yourself in the action with a 155° Ultra-Wide FOV from a built-in 1/1.7" CMOS sensor. DJI Avata's 48MP camera records up to 4K/60fps. If FPV flyers want the highest quality video, they usually strap an action camera to their machines, making them even more challenging to fly.

The Avata‘s design is a Cinewhoop style where prop guards are built into the airframe to protect the propellers and provide a degree of resilience in case of crashes. This drone doesn’t fold up, and the camera, electronics, and battery sit above the prop guards and propellers. Being on the right makes it conveniently placed for right-handed flyers, but less elegant for left-handed. Though this bias also means that right-handed flyers using the motion controller in their right hand can’t easily adjust the settings while flying. The current darling of the camera drone world, the DJI Mini 3 Pro combines a small and agile drone technology with excellent battery life and an impressive camera.It's worth noting that FAA regulations aren't really suited for Cinewhoop and racing-style drones; they're more about enforcing rules in shared airspace with manned aircraft and avoiding flights over crowded public spaces. When you fly a cinema drone at altitude, the biggest worry is a crash to the ground that injures a person or animal. Camera-first drones are also very capable of flying low, but they don't do so with the same ferocious velocity as the Avata. It's up to you to use common sense when you operate the drone near the ground, because you can still do some real harm even if you technically follow the FAA regulations to a tee. DJI Avata provides outstanding high-grade imaging performance that will deliver exceptional visuals The connection between the drone and the Goggles 2 is Ocusync O3+, the latest version of DJI’s transmission technology. Depending on what region you are flying, O3+ can provide a video and control link at up to 10km, or only 2km if you are based in Europe. This is one of the few downgrades of the Avata. The newest FPV from form DJI has a top speed limited to 97kph (60mph), which is much slower than its predecessor. Battery Life DJI Avata is the first FPV drone with built-in propeller guards, enabling it to withstand minor collisions for a worry-free flight: Perfect for high-octane deployments - indoors or outdoors - to capture dazzling cinewhoop-style content.
