It is gross and grody and weird and very Ito, it just doesn't feel like it hits its full potential at any point.The Azawa Parents: The Azawara parents are present mainly in chapter three but are also mentioned and shown as decapitated heads in other chapters. Chizumi Azawa: Chizumi is another main character in Dissolving Classroom and is Yuuma's younger sister.

I just thought there was more to it than "regular people hearing apologies and melting away for the devil's entertainment. By the final chapter, Yuuma and Chizumi are forced to live out of a tent in the woods due to having had to leave their previous address on short notice after getting tracked down by a reporter. A subreddit I frequent, as much as any, recently came to the defense of a particular streamer with such arguments as, "It's not like he knew she was underage when he did it. Pretty Boy: Yuuma is noticeably more attractive than the rest of the male cast, and his looks are one of the first things that women notice about him. These scary short stories will shock you with a literal interpretation of the ills that plague modern society.While I thought that the stories were both disgusting and creepy, the repetitive nature of the stories didn't work that well. Granted none of his characters have the more sleek style favoured in most manga today, but he still finds ways to make all his characters different with some looking more traditional (Azeri and Keiko come to mind) to the more out there and creepy (Chizumi and the premature aged Maiko from the fourth chapter standout). Without going into spoilers, the horrific events that follow wherever this girl ends up are not for the faint of heart and Ito is clearly having the time of his life. Yuuma spends his time apologizing to almost everyone around him and Chizumi creeps out everyone who encounters her. She is concerned for Chizumi and Yuuma while they stay at the apartment since she can hear the Azawa parents abusing Yuuma and attempts to help the siblings.

There's nothing bad about this but I thought it was weak compared to the other Junji Ito books I've read. Each chapter focuses on a different aspect of how Yuuma and Chizumi interact with the world, featuring them in various settings including Yuuma's high school, Yuuma's dating life, an apartment complex, Chizumi's first experience with love, and on the run from reporters and police. As he's actually praising the beauty of the devil, it's likely a variant on the melting power of his apologies. At this moment, Ogawara and the other neighbor start melting until only their heads and bones are left. Apart from the ghastly, convincingly-drawn deaths, the book projects an effective atmosphere of creeping fear as the town's inhabitants become less and less human, and more and more bizarre things begin to happen.Various children: Multiple children appear in "Children of the Earth" stuck in holes; however, they seem to be empty shells.
