I have heard many IEMs at trade shows, regularly hear all the CFA universal offerings (UA deals Campfire), own Tia Fourte (don't listen to them and won them in a raffle for free), modded IMR R1 ('fake but fun'), Periodic Be ('fake but fun' redux), Aurisonic Rockets (my 'reference'), and FDX1. Eartips tip: after going through Comply T100, T100 Comfort, Etymotic foams and triple flange, Comply Pro I found my old Weston foam tips which are the worst design I have seen. Then again, if they were comfortable, I could see them ticking off all the same boxes as the FDX1 and the Be while being a small bit more tonally accurate to my ears than either. I think those who’ve tried and enjoyed the ER2SE’s sound will likely want to step up to the ER4SR at some point in their lives – the improvement is certainly not negligible.

By incorporating five different filters of varying resistance you can go from a more detailed sound using the white filters all the way to a warmer and darker sound if you go with the orange filters. which offers intricate slapped acoustic bass passages, delicate and equally intricate percussion accompaniment, brilliant contributions from a forceful horn section, and soaring statements from violins. With some tracks it's easier to follow individual sonic elements than on my main headphone rig using either the HP-3 or the HD600 but other times things I expect to be there are. I might even compare it to my some hybrids like Legacy 5 or some offerings from BQEYZ, but the cohesiveness of a DD can't be undermined. While the ER2SE comes with one extra pair of triple-flange eartips and one extra pair of foams, the ER4SR comes with three additional triple-flange, two additional foams, and a bunch of double-flange, all of varying sizes.

You can expect these headphones and devices to connect seamlessly without any hassle and even offer OS-specific functionality depending on the device. The Legacy 3 mids seemed to be lost in the mix slightly, neither having their own space, nor having the ability to shine.These make for lovely late night non-critical listening as you drift off to sleep, as I did with my XD-05+ listening to The Zombies' masterpiece Odessey and Oracle.

They just sound really good and it’s so much easier to make eq adjustments on my bass and know that they will translate and be meaningful.
