Dre's groundbreaking album "The Chronic" revolutionized hip-hop with its G-funk sound and gritty storytelling. Dre celebrates the 30th anniversary of his magnum opus, The Chronic by announcing the album will be re-released by its original distributor, Interscope Records which worked The Chronic in 1992 via its relationship with Death Row Records.

Interscope Records, founded in 1990, subverted the musical landscape by introducing culture shaping artists across the full spectrum of contemporary music. Recording sessions for the album took place in June 1992 at Death Row Studios in Los Angeles and at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood. I remember having this in my schooldays and coming home and playing back what is track 5 on vinyl 2.

He sounds utterly unaffected by anything, no matter how extreme, which sets the tone for the album's misogyny, homophobia, and violence. I feel that people who say this started G-Funk didn't listen to Niggaz4Life by NWA, which had a lot of the beginings of this production style by Dre. Originally released in 1992, 'The Chronic' featured early appearances from Snoop Dogg and marked Dre’s first solo release after parting ways with N. The replacement arrived in the same chintzy mailer as my first copy, but much to my surprise, it was in NM condition when I opened it. We take our responsibility to Dre and his amazing body of work very seriously and we are honored to work closely with him on this re-release of one of the most important albums of all time.
