Beautiful, gentlemanly, old-school chypre that reminds me of Polo Green but is actually better than that by far.

It's definitely retro, kind of soapy and mossy, but not cheap smelling -- it's actually very put together. There is a hyacinth impression though overall the floralcy is not the tenacious component of this fragrance. Like Yatagan, Devin opens with a strong mixture of pine notes and something pleasantly sour and green.

I would have worn this myself but the pine needle-patchouli-too much oak moss thing gave it such a masculinity as to make me want to smell it on other men, or as I had previously mentioned, on a future son. Just do yourself a favor and don't judge it based on the opening because it could be a little harsh at first. If you love oakmoss take note, I bought my bottle last year, it is made in the UK, and Evernia Prunastri is listed halfway down the ingredients list! I can smell it on my skin all day when applied in the morning which makes it a good work scent or perfect for a night out.

Despite being launched in 1977, Devin (even love the name) is a timeless masterpiece and yet modern enough to stand up, in terms of quality, with many of the more recent releases on the shelves now days. The magic of this scent is when it settles you have a green plant like aromas with dry cedar that mixes in with the florals. They were banned from fragrance by the IFRA and so a frag like this is a reminder of what we used to have and a look at what we lost. Edit: not spraying under the shirt anymore because it consistently gives me a headache when I do so. This lighter touch is, for me, anyway, also relatable to newer formulations I’ve tried of Azzaro in that I cannot really detect a leather as such, though the smoothness of labdanum and the cool, dank rustle of oakmoss (the real thing, halfway through the ingredients list on the back of the box) help to hold a place for the idea. I have an older bottle that just sings the praises of all that is agrestic, raw, rugged (tall pines, herbs, weeds, and grasses, and animalic leather/labdanum), yet vulnerable and tender under the surface (florals, jasmine, lavender, an understated sweetness).It first came off as rather "cologne-y" after the first spray, then turned a bit sweet and reminded me of the Aramis 900 DNA, and eventually settled into the earthy, balsamic scent I was hoping for. I'm truly gutted that I have discovered this scent during its demise and have been duped with a pale imitation of the wonderful original. So after reading the article " Best In Show Green Fragrances " I saw this as an honourable mention in the choices of Miguel Matos, and today I was browsing in TJ Maxx , minding my own damn business , when BAM Devin , tackled me knocked. I prefer Havana and 900 a little more than Devin from the Aramis line but I have all three in my regular rotation.

You are relaxing on your country estate while the rainbow flashes on the sky and the sun is bright on the recently showered garden. His first scent for Aramis, the eponymous Aramis, was a masterpiece of the leathery chypre genre - bold and spicy, yet warm and inviting. All the same, I think that either this stuff is improving with age, from what was already a good baseline (perhaps becoming more integrated, rounded and so on, while not losing any impact but conceivably even gaining a little cred by virtue of smelling less--thin or something), or I just increasingly appreciate it. i saw a female reviewer reviewing this one or was in a montage of reviews on mens fragrances that she found appealing, nice looking lady, so i though why not test it out? Because of that, this scent to me is just a curiosity; a very good fragrance that they wore back in the 1970s.

Devin is a classic barber, old school fragrance very well blended, a bit more into it that I expected. Eventually, the pine needs scent comes through a little, and for many hours later the leather and oakmoss notes lingered. Opens up with an instant surprising, almost "blast in your face" note of what is in my opinion beautifully sweetened "Khaki Bos", a weed in South Africa.
