Part of TakaraTomy's 35th anniversary celebration, he was initially released at Summer Wonder Festival 2018, then later through Cybertron Satellite stores across Japan and TakaraTomy Mall on September 9, 2018. Along with the rest of the Golden Lagoon toys, he was later rereleased through Hasbro Pulse in January 2021. Lookin' awful buff and armored for an insignificant young library clerk. One has to wonder if the Guilds may have dropped the ball on this one. Mini-Con Combiner"' Optimus comes with one standard Kreon and four Cityville-syle mini-Kreons of the same character, each one a different incarnation from various franchises. With some extra parts, the mini-Kreons become limbs to make a larger combiner-bot. Once known as Orion Pax, Optimus is now inspirational leader and friend to the Autobots under his command. He carries within him the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. The Ultimate Pop-Up Universe As with other War for Cybertron Trilogy figures, Optimus Prime was exclusive to Walmart in Canada and the United States.

Hybrid Style Optimus Prime is an insanely detailed and complex transforming toy, created under the supervision of famed mecha designer Shōji Kawamori. Standing only three and three-quarter inches tall in robot mode, the figure is partially constructed from die-cast metal and features one of the most complex transformation sequences ever seen on a Transformers figure of its size. Alas, the small size of the figure also works against it, as it required several design concessions that resulted in (if we're being nice about it) an unimpressive cab mode. His original trailer is not included with the set; instead, he comes with a new deluxe-scaled trailer, not available with any other figure, based on the one towed by Prime in Dark of the Moon. The trailer is compatible with both figures, and sports 5mm post-holes that will hold (among many other things) G1 Prime's laser rifle and the MechTech weapon Movie Prime is armed with. Takara released the toy as part of their Beast Wars line in July of 1997, nearly identical to the Hasbro version. The missiles for the Takara version are thinner and simpler than the original Hasbro version, and would be used in all subsequent releases of the mold.Weapons Nemesis Prime has an Ion blaster the same make as Optimus Prime, and a Flame thrower. He uses the Ion cannon to blast the target a few times, then gets closer and burns it with his flame thrower. Unknown to the Rescue Bots, Optimus had also been involved in the Scrubber Initiative. When the project's lab in Faxian was imperiled by runaway Scrubbers, Optimus observed the Rescue Bots response, and subsequently appeared to them via hologram to give them new assignments protecting the project. Upgrades Following the defeat of the Morocco virus, Optimus turned up at the Training Center and assigned the Bots all to separate missions around the world. Transformations Tales of the Beast Hunters After a nearly endless war that resulted in the AllSpark parting from Cybertron for good, Kingdom episode 1 Megatron killed Optimus Prime, lamenting that they should have worked together. Afraid of the possibility of this occurring in the past, Kingdom episode 5 Unicron resurrected and enslaved Optimus as Nemesis Prime. As the Autobots and Decepticons died out, Unicron and his minions were a constant threat to the Maximals and Predacons Kingdom episode 6 that emerged from the uninhabitable Cybertron. Both groups eventually time-traveled to the prehistoric Earth, with the Predacons seeking to change the future. Kingdom episode 1 This figure, with the included intakes and alternate head in place, also doubles as Starscream from " Megatron's Master Plan, Part 1". Later, he was offered in Australia through online stores. A few weeks later he showed up in massive numbers in the Australian retail store Toyworld for half the price.

This mold was also used to make the less ambiguous Optimus Prime-recolored Convobat, the separate individual Convobat, Onyx Primal as well as inspire the comic character Nyx. G1 Convoy comes with two sets of fists, each pair featuring differently-shaped fist holes: one pair with square holes to hold the figure's "Convoy Gun" (as his ion blaster is called), and the other with round 3mm-compatible holes to hold the spring-loaded translucent blue missile launcher (a generic accessory also available with Robotmasters Beast Megatron and Beast Convoy). The fists are swapped out by simply popping them out of the wrist-hinge that holds them in place; the figure also includes an energon-axe that can be inserted into the wrist instead of a fist.The figure was made available for sale exclusively at Hasbro Pulse on November 1, 2022, and shipped in early December 2022. Optimus forgoed the first engagement of the war, allowing the Decepticons to take Fort Scyk so he would gain time to recruit more Autobots. Optimus learned from Jazz after the fall of Scyk that he would have to learn to not mourn every soldier. Optimus fought for the first time during the next battle, the siege of the Hydrax Plateau. The first Cybertronian he ever killed was a former industrial drone named Drixco. Afterwards, Optimus confided to Alpha Trion that the act of killing alone made him feel he was on the wrong side. Despite the efforts of Optimus and Ultra Magnus the Decepticons conquered the Hydrax Plateau. It was at the stalemate of Praxus that Optimus gained the indispensable allies Prowl and Ironhide. The first Autobot victory was at Kalis, a vital area due to its fusion reactor that powered Iacon. Optimus, Jazz and Sideswipe worked together to bring down the monstrous Bruticus Maximus, but the battle was mostly won due to the Seekers' absence. As Energon depleted, the war descended into a mere siege of Iacon lasting millions of cycles, and Optimus opted to eject the AllSpark itself into space: during this battle, Optimus gained another great friend in Bumblebee.

Both his Matrix and small camera accessory can be pegged into his palms. His hands feature a range of movement, with the thumb and index finger being articulated and the remaining fingers joined together.

Hasbro Asia re-released this in 2014. It came with an exclusive addition—the Key to Vector Sigma. In 2017 it was basically reissued under Generations co-branding. MP-10 immediately became the gold standard in terms of scale for the Masterpiece line, with all subsequent releases being sized to best match him for nearly a decade. This was soon relegated to the realms of micro-continuity when the Beast Wars animated series began and clearly established that the two Optimuses were different characters, but the toy remains one that was officially branded as Prime, and is consequently listed here.
