Burn sweetgrass in the North to celebrate elders or perhaps your own elder years. Frog in the North tells you to think about Cleansing and then act accordingly. Clean up your act. If you have the opportunity do a traditional sweat lodge, a Cleansing of the body, or do a traditional vision quest–the seeking of self-empowerment and purpose through vision, a Cleansing of the mind. Frog is a healer and a shaman. Frog’s power song is said to bring the Cleansing rain. Frog medicine can help you sort out your emotions. Emotions are related to the water element. Deepest healing happens on the emotional plains. If you are discouraged and have resentment, ask Frog to help you. Take those two debilitating emotions to the water and scrub them away. My problem with animal symbolism is that I feel so cut off from animals as a day to day part of my life that the book has to do a really good job grounding the symbolism of the animal. I feel like this book needs a whole book of native myths of the animals to get that job done. Which it doesn't have, of course. The beginning chapters also seem very minimalist and suffer for it, though it looks like her book Earthways might fill in some gaps.
