All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. And I just don't UNDERSTAND. What is the point?! This book was thought provoking, maybe, but only if "?????" constitutes a thought. The beach itself is long and pretty, with a surf pool at the southern end. There are good facilities to change and have a rinse down after a swim I have been to Palm Beach many times and loved how the author portrayed the setting. I love how the author decided to make this more of a reported novel. There are so many facts and figures included in the story. There is also a lot in the book about income inequality disparity—the gaps between the wealthy and the not-so-wealthy—and the class differences.A perfect Palm Beach day would be to wake up, have a coffee by the ocean, go for a long, long walk on the bike path, which I love. Then, lunch with family and Worth Avenue in the afternoon to visit someone of my favorite stores. It was just the excitement of that first day arriving there and having that first glass of orange juice or scoop of ice cream. And looking at the ocean—that sense of happiness and contentment when I first arrived. I'm sure there are tons of subliminal messages to be found in this novel but, to be honest, I was simply entertained by the author's talent with words. I'll think about and try to figure out all that underlying stuff later. Much later!

Tom Turner is a reputed writer from America, who is famous for writing crime, fiction, thriller, and mystery novels. He is particularly famous for writing the Charlie Crawford Mystery series. His mystery books have done very well and have helped him in establishing himself as a noteworthy author. Turner is a native of New England. After the completion of his college studies, he stayed in Vermont and was involved in running a bar for some time. He shifted to New York after a few years and started working in an advertising agency. Author Turner held the post of a copywriter in a number of advertising agencies in Manhattan and also won several awards for his work. After spending many years in this line of work, he decided to undergo a radical change and shifted his focus to commercial real estate. This job landed him in Palm Beach after several years, where he bought, renovated, and sold plots and houses. The place attracted him so much that he ended up writing mystery stories set in Palm Beach. Rebecca, a journalist, finds herself working with the Stones as well. Her career takes off and it would seem that their lives were on a smooth glide path. Fate was not initially kind, their infant son Bash is diagnosed with an unexpected, rare, life threatening problem. If the surf is too rough, there is always the calmer waters of Pitwater on the western side of the peninsular to have a dip.

When I was growing up, there weren't as many restaurants. Now you can have sushi and Mexican food. There's so much to offer. But then at the same time, that sense of tradition and elegance has never changed. There is that sense of family time, and tropical ease. I will echo many other reviewers’ experiences that the book did compel me to keep reading. However, I really did not enjoy this book and found it extremely annoying at times. I did not find the events of the book believable, really disliked the main character (who I believe we are supposed to sympathize with), and am confused as to what we are supposed to take away from this story. Thanks to Harper for my advanced review copy. I cannot wait to read everything else Adkins has ever written! The characters’ decision-making and the events of the book did not feel realistic at all. Why would a random billionaire offer to double the salary of a man he just met? Why would said billionaire’s wife hire the first random writer that stumbles into her house (Rebecca) to ghost-write her memoir? Raptis Rare Books is an Antiquarian Book firm that specializes in Fine First Editions, Signed and Inscribed books, and The main character, Rebecca, is strangely used as a mouthpiece for typically liberal talking points. As a left-leaning person who actually vibes with the points Rebecca makes about wealth inequality, I still feel like her character is more of an irritating caricature than she is a genuine vessel for the arguments she makes. On the bike path there's some beautiful old homes. The original Bethesda-By-The Sea, originally was on the bike path. Now it is a home that belongs to the woman behind Kemble Interiors. We included her in the book. Her house is magic. I mean it's probably one of most iconic landmarks to me.
