Let’s put it this way- It did not keep me on my toes but admittedly I just did not care enough to try and keep up.

This hodgepodge of different personalities along with strange occurrences eventually cumulates into a set of circumstances where all are pointing fingers and nobody knows who is innocent or guilty and quite who to actually trust. The narrative style is perfect for this type of tale – creeping up on you, bright sunshine and seemingly happy people but underneath it all a distinctly menacing feel – Claire Douglas builds the tension absolutely superbly, changing the game with almost every other chapter and keeping you firmly off kilter. I had seen The Sisters around a lot and knew it was a book I wanted to get to though it took me a fair while. My reading mountain is alarmingly huge!! We find out that Kirsty and Selena were very close as children but had a big falling out when they were eighteen, and this is the last time they saw each other.Twenty years ago: One rainy night, Olivia Rutherford is driving three friends home when a figure in the road causes her to swerve and crash. Regaining consciousness, she finds herself alone in the car – her friends have vanished. The story opens with the main protagonist Kirsty awoken by screaming at 5:37 a.m., she discovers her mother crouching over a body covered in blood!
