Yes, it is used as one of the two starting materials used in the manufacture of polyethylene terephthalate (PET, a.k.a. Dacron and Terylene, recycling symbol “1”). The diacid terephthalic acid (benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid) reacts with the diol ethylene glycol forming the polyester. The Always Original (ABV 7.5%) is a sparkling, medium sweet perry and tastes similar to some ciders in my opinion.
