It was cheesy, in ways, but kind of interesting thanks to the extra dialogue that reflected the psychoanalysis I mentioned earlier. The reviews I had read before picking this book up were tentative but ultimately I have to side with more with the lower end of the review scale.

laments repeatedly the fact that she can't drink while breastfeeding and/or must pump and dump (even though that is a total myth), and has a 7 month old (non-family member at that! Was it the allure of the arrangement: a poly triad where each person’s love for the other enhances them all? I really lime this author's ability to tell a story about people living in a block of houses who seem so perfect yet are anything but. This book will be slightly difficult to read for people who can sympathize with some of the underlying trauma of the novel. If you are a reader that won't be able to tolerate this theme you should know that it is pervasive in this story.Kat is a struggler, she struggles with just about everything like her self esteem, her marriage and sex life, money, her successes and/or failures as a mother, her new home, her new neighbors/friends and her in laws whom she does not like. One additional detail thrown in was that our narrator lives in the teeniest home on the block named, Crayola, because the rooms were painted in primary colors. I have lost count of how many nights I have stayed up with Alice, Henry and Jay until the wee hours of the morning. I cannot praise it enough, the tension the entire book, the adorable relationship between Tasha + Heaven?

To be honest, they all merged into one in my head and I couldn’t actually remember who was who whenever a name popped up, apart from Andie, who had a bit more of a developed story than the rest of them. She doesn’t only make it about the sex, but she also makes it about the feeling, the yearning and lusting, the fantasizing about a moment long before it happens, so she makes you anticipate the two women, Tasha and Heaven, getting together so much that when they do it feels like a treat and she does not disappoint. A fast-paced read from a new voice in domestic suspense which you should add to your to-read pile immediately. The story is mostly about the beautiful buildup between Tasha and Heaven, but their partners were a delight as well.She took 3 years of Latin in high school and now speaks fluent pretension, which fully explains her current preference for gay wizard regency novels. She doesn’t want her house to be an eyesore for the block party welcoming them the next day, and what the neighbors don’t know won’t hurt them. Tuesdays with Jay and Other Stories is meant to be read as a companion to the main novels in the Neighborly Affection series. And in Binding Their Hearts, the unique way that Barber explores their love for one another becomes replete.

However, there are moments in the story where I felt a pang of sympathy for her, and for that reason she isn’t the least likable character in the whole book. I don't think we ever really got to the bottom of why the previous owners sold up and at times there are a few too many characters to get your head around. What they don’t know is in the AV lies something sinister behind that Stepford facade and all of the gushy, ‘be my bff’ ‘no, be MY bff’ goodness. It brings me comfort to experience these heartbreaking moments with characters I love and watch them discover something about themselves in the process. Literal LOL at the negative reviews based solely on the fact that this story involves swinging, though. Everything about him is understated; he has that unassuming exterior, but it conceals power and ferocity you wouldn’t imagine. The chemistry between Heaven/Calvin, Tasha/Stephen and Heaven/Tasha was all really well done, didn't feel forced or over the top. We have Henry, Alice, and Jay’s main story to wrap up first, in Season of Gifts: Neighborly Affection Book 8, and then their friends Will and Emma have been very patiently waiting for their turn in the spotlight.
