This type of formula contains cows' milk proteins that have already been partly broken down (partially hydrolysed).

Hi Michelle, I have just seen your post and was wondering if you ever got to the bottom of your daughters skin reaction to porridge.Unless a midwife, health visitor or GP suggests otherwise, first infant formula is the only formula your baby needs. Cooking takes time, while pre-made pouches are easy for your child to eat from, and don't involve cleaning up any dishes afterwards. These all have huge ranges, including purées and meals in glass jars if you're looking to cut down on your plastic use. Growing-up and toddler milks are marketed as an alternative to whole cows' milk for toddlers and children over 1 year old.

Don't worry about your child not eating enough - weaning should be more about trying things out rather than nutrition.Asda sells plenty of baby food brands, including Heinz for Baby, Organix and Piccolo, plus the Asda Little Angels own-brand range. She doesn't like baby rice much and doesn't seem that keen on fruits either so am running out of things to try. Babies' low body weight means they take in much higher amounts of phytoestrogens than older children or adults who eat soya products as part of a varied and balanced diet. We asked what they thought of the baby food according to the following criteria: whether it looks appealing, smells good, is value for money, is convenient to transport and use, and if the brand offers a good range of options.

Although it's often described as suitable for "hungrier babies", there's no evidence that babies settle better or sleep longer when fed this type of formula. This type of formula is thickened with the aim of preventing reflux in babies (when babies bring up milk during or after a feed). Although it's available in pharmacies and supermarkets, it's recommended you only use it on the advice of a health professional.

Partially hydrolysed formula (comfort formula) is not suitable for babies who have cows' milk allergy. So my advice would be to try different porridges to see how your little one reacts and every now and again, maybe monthly, try the ones she reacted to again to see how she is and hopefully yours will grow out of it to. I did find one of the organic porridges (I think it was Plum but can't remember 100% now) that had no powdered milk in and she was fine with that.
