My journey into the world of spirits began as a pub owner, where I cultivated memorable experiences for patrons and nurtured a deep appreciation for fine liquors. Clynelish distillery got my attention last September when we held a Compass Box tasting with our local whisky society. The quality of the tasting was so good and Clynelish was the base to many of Compass Box’s quality products, that it got me thinking: I have to get some Clynelish single malts.

This regime would help to produce a fruity spirit were it not for what happens in the feints receiver. In any distillery there is a natural precipitation of oils in this tank which would normally be removed during the distillery’s annual silent season when the plant is fully cleaned.

Clynelish 14 is a highly approachable Scotch that balances complexity and smoothness with a harmonious blend of fruity and spicy flavors and rich maltiness. The Balvenie 14 has a rich, fruity taste from the influence of the Caribbean cask, which blends perfectly with the traditional whisky flavors. Exploring the Agave Fields of Oaxaca: While my career commenced with a focus on Scotch and Bourbon, life’s adventures have led me to the picturesque agave fields of Oaxaca, Mexico.It’s especially the waxiness that make Clynelish stand apart. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, just get your hands on a bottle of Clynelish 14 Years (it’s worth it), and you’ll recognise the flavour profile I’m referencing soon enough. It’s a characteristic that seems to have been much more prevalent in earlier eras, but something you’ll rarely encounter in modern single malts, Clynelish being one of the few exceptions.
