With series newcomers in mind, these brief plot synopses contain only mild spoilers such as broad plot points and character introductions. 1. Batman: Arkham Origins Halo 2 is often considered one of the greatest first-person shooters ever made with some even considering it better than the original. It directly continues the adventures of Master Chief, while also adding brand new gameplay elements that took the series to new heights. Drag the round anchor at the end of a wire on an empty place in the timelineto build a new location. While Code: Veronica’s strange name and Dreamcast exclusive release have long made it something of an oddity, it does fit into the Resident Evil timeline fairly cleanly. From there, we learn that the evidence in these files is enough to convince the U.S. government to aggressively pursue legal recourse against Umbrella and its executives.

We’ve spoken before about Resident Evil 6’s gameplay shortcomings and other bad decisions, but it’s worth noting again that Resident Evil 6’s often convoluted plot has long confused players who didn’t keep up with every timeline development up until this point. One of the biggest surprises at Microsoft’s X019 event was the announcement that the Yakuza series was finally coming to Xbox, and even more importantly, Xbox Game Pass. The game’s early “Operation Javier” scenario takes place four years after Resident Evil 2 and sees Leon Kennedy enter a South American village in search of a powerful drug lord named Javier Hidalgo. Try not to be surprised, but it turns out the village is overrun by zombies. The game primarily focuses on the player hunting down an artifact called the Conduit. This artifact was first located in the ruins of New Mombasa, but it got transported to a Halo ring. The struggle to obtain it is the main objective of the narrative. The Timeline ability gives players the power to control time just like a media player. Drag the Timeline left to rewind time and undo your past mistakes. Drag it right to watch your future unfold and gain you valuable information to change your past. Halo 3 concludes the story started by the original Halo, before the later events of the Reclaimer Saga. Due to being the grand finale of a trilogy, the game was designed to be bigger and better than what came before. It’s also nice and compact, which makes it easy to take along on the road or when you’re getting together with friends or family – like we did on our recent trip.

The reveal of Resident Evil Village‘s release date and gameplay brings us that much closer to another entry into one of the more complicated (and sometimes confusing) timelines in video game history. Update: For fans of this, there are at least two board games that are similar: Chronology and Timeline. Timeline scores well on the “Let’s play again” game meter because of how simple and easy it is to play. You don’t have to worry about set up time or remembering complex rules. Simply deal out the cards and start guessing where they go. And when one game ends, there are still plenty of cards left that haven’t been touched, so why not just keep going?Resident Evil 3’s opening sequences occur 24 hours before the start of Resident Evil 2. While there are some obvious plotline ties to Resident Evil 2 in those early segments, much of the beginning of this game is really a side story designed to shed some light on what happened to Jill Valentine after Resident Evil.

The original title that started it all, Halo: Combat Evolved is the first game where players control Master Chief. With an excellent weapon sandbox and other phenomenal gameplay elements that have remained fundamental staples for the rest of the franchise, Halo: Combat Evolved focuses on the Chief's journey across the titular Halo ring. It’s nearly impossible to recommend Umbrella Corps on the basis of its gameplay, but as a piece of the Resident Evil canon, Resident Evil answers some important questions. Most importantly, Resident Evil 2’s ending helps set-up the extent of Umbrella’s mistakes/intentions and how they will turn what started near Racoon City into a series of events that would affect multiple parts of the world.
