Olivia tells Clementine that Miss Morro already knows about her pregnancy and asks Clementine if she's ever heard of a cervix or uterus and that Morro told her her birth will happen in four or five months. This was fun, and hearty enough to not feel like a rushed project, though occasionally the pacing is pretty jumpy and it could have used a bit more tension. Later, while writing her name for her next chore, Amir comes out in nothing but a towel to ask Clementine about her how she lost her leg. I can’t recommend it to Walking Dead fans because if you don’t know who Clementine is, this probably wouldn’t do anything for you.

In the aftermath of Amos' murder, Olivia is distraught over Amos's death causing Georgia to stomp on her back, telling her to shut up.They take note of the walkers eating on someone and use it as a distraction to make it to the house. The overall story of this first instalment is told well and I found myself invested in its new character and story beats. It’s a bit of a slow burn of a book, focusing on Walden’s signature themes of coming to terms with oneself and overcoming past traumas, which really works in a survival horror setting despite the surprise of Walden doing a survival-horror book. In the morning, while doing numerous tasks, Clementine throws an ax at the ground, near Georgia, claiming she heard a walker, despite the fact that there a not walkers in sight.

While Ricca attempts to save Olivia, Georgia starts firing wildly and shoots Ricca in the side of her stomach. For fifty years, she has trained to slay wyrms - but none have appeared since the Nameless One, and the younger generation.

Tillie Walden is a fine enough illustrator, but I’ve never read much of her other work to judge her writing. There’s a page in here with 11 panels and the way they effectively and clearly get the story being told across to the audience is just so impressive. Bad writing and sometimes mediocre artwork which do not add well with over than 200 pages of actually nothing memorable happening, if not for some flashbacks.

She has a really nice conversation with Ricca in the last third of this that describes what it's like to be a young person in this world. CLEMENTINE brings its own distinct voice, style, and sensibility to the Walking Dead universe, which is quite a feat on its own. Clementine then confesses to Ricca that she loves her too and apologizes for not saying it sooner, saying she thought she had to make this place safe first before she could focus on their relationship. Overall is a very good book, its worth the money and if you try to understand the feelings or the traumas that Clementine has.
