The latest announcement of new Star Wars books and new covers for upcoming titles predicts a busy 2023 for fans of Star Wars novels, comics, and literature overall! The excitement of battle, using a lightsaber to fight and eliminate the Republic’s enemies became Iskat’s favorite activity. After many years of feeling mediocre, Iskat finally learned that she was good at something. Well, more than good, Iskat was great at killing, and she enjoyed it. If you are a fan of easter eggs, Dawson fills this book with plenty, not only to the Clone Wars series, but to later eras in the canon, and even some Legends connections. There were references to Mike Chen's "Brotherhood" that were excellently and organically included. Dawson has proved that she really can write whatever era she is given (and whatever sub-genre).

Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade (First identified as Thirteenth Sister, simultaneous with audiobook) This last part of the book includes the events of the Darth Vader comics by Charles Soule. I used some of its panels to illustrate this last segment.

The narrator, Kristen Sieh, did a good job with her performance. I greatly appreciated the audio as it allowed me to know whether I was pronouncing certain names correctly (i.e.: Tualon) or not. The music, as always, really amped up the atmosphere when needed. It made the experience even better. The only complaint I have with the book is a minor one – I wanted more with Inquisitor Iskat. And I definitely wanted more with Iskat and Tualon in their new toxic but intoxicating relationship. Path of Vengeance is another High Republic novel, written by Cavan Scott, it is scheduled to be published on May 2023, as part of Phase II. Protagonist Journey to Villain: The book charts how Iskat goes from a struggling Padawan to a member of the murderous Inquisitorius. As an Inquisitor, Iskat finds the freedom she has always craved: to question, to want. And with each strike of her red blade, Iskat moves closer to claiming her new destiny in the Force—whatever the cost.Sadly, not everything that happened at the arena was beneficial for Iskat. Out of all the Jedi sent to rescue Padmé, Anakin, and Obi-Wan only twenty-nine returned to Coruscant, and Master Sember Vey wasn’t one of them. Being a Junior Novel means that it’s mainly targeted toward kids and teenagers. The cover reflects this by showing three youngsters watching a holoprojector. Their faces reveal excitement and desire for adventure. When my physical copy came in the mail, I didn't start off right away. I waited, hoping my library would get the digital copy in the next few days. Eventually, though, my patience ran out and I started my journey.

Iskat’s long, red fingers wrapped around the cold metal bench as she closed her eyes and silently recited the Jedi Code again. Fans of the prequels and Obi-Wan Kenobi will love Dawson’s deep dive into the mind of a Jedi who always felt she was destined for something … different.
