Mid-August. Small, yellow/red apple with intensejuicyflavour. Skin can be affected by scab, but flavourunimpaired. Anotherproduct of Marcus Tydeman's nursery - Worcester bred with McIntosh. We have had slightly irregular crops, but good quality and Deliciousfruit. Now since Christmas day i believe business hasnt been good and now they are closing down! Others walked out on the day aswell. Shouting and swearing was heard coming from the kitchen and the waiting on staff were left in tears. No wonder. If they ever read this i hope they feel bad for spoiling our day and will admit to themselves that they let us all down that day.

October to December. Small, russetted apple with attractive skin and prominent eye. Intense flavour, with dry, nutty flesh. Originated in Ireland in early 19th century. We have found it a little scab-prone, but otherwise trouble-free. The old people always seem to grow top prize-winning gooseberries. My 84-year-old neighbour Kate used to entreat me to see her hydrangeas, large seedling avocado trees, and finally her prize gooseberries. They were small bushes, carefully tended, horribly thorny, but covered in glowing red fruit the size of plums, nothing like the old, tiny, green, hard sour lumps of my childhood memories. My wife had Cumberland sausage and mash with deep red brown rich onion gravy. I sampled that too, it was equally nice. For dessert we had toffee apple brioche, a kind of apple based bread and butter pudding with cream � this was exceptionally good, all rounded off with fresh coffee. The main disadvantage of these plants is that they are very thorny, similar in shape and pointedness to the native matagouri or ‘wild Irishman’ scrub so you will get many a punctured finger trimming twigs and opening up the bushes with secateurs. This kind of pruning is a good idea though for helping the fruit to bask in those valuable sugar-yielding solar rays. October to December. Mediumapple, red flush and faint red stripes over gold. Firm fleshed with sweet- sharp, pear-drop quality, almost spicy. In some seasons benefits from thinning. Blossom is most attractive.We were all extremely upset and disapointed and it ruined our day. We had gone there to relax and it was the most stressful day we had ever had. Another wonderful Victorian apple, lightly russeted and with excellent flavour. Mid-season apple, keeps well. Mid-August. Deep red flush over pale base, flesh white, juicy, with a melting flavour. At its best, one of the best flavoured early apples, with a flavour that cannot be experienced inany commercially available apple.Fruit is medium/large. Susceptible to canker, however. Small/medium fruit, attractive red stripes over green/yellow base. Flavour is distinct, pleasant but not always very sweet. October to December. Small to medium apple, well-known in Victorian times. Well-flavoured, slightly tannic flesh (has been used for Cider making in the past). Reliable.Mid September to late October. Golden, conical apple with firm, cream coloured flesh. Local to Lancashire and Westmorland.
