Aeldari warriors emulate the various warlike aspects of Khaela Mensha Khaine in battle, but each Craftworld holds a terrible secret in its heart. There is a chamber which contains an Avatar of Khaine, a molten metal statue which contains a still-living shard of the defeated warrior god. In times of war, this shard is awakened and set aflame. This colossus of battle bestrides the battlefield, a living god that scythes down its foes by the score. Wraithlord Does battling with a mix of powerful psykers, lightning-fast warriors, and esoteric wargear sound like your favoured way of waging war? If so, then Combat Patrol: Aeldari is for you. This boxed set provides you with all the units you need to get started, or to reinforce an existing army of Aeldari or Ynnari. The contents of this set have been specifically chosen to provide you with an ideal Aeldari force for Combat Patrol-sized games – approximately 25 Power Level's worth of models, which can be built in a variety of ways – and will also save you money compared to buying the contents individually. Personally, if I was starting a new army, I’d get two and stop there. For a Combat Patrol it’s a pretty strong box — it’s got a bunch of more “generic” options that can really fit into any army. Alternatively you can buy a couple and go hard into the Windrider builds.

That’s not to say they’re all whoosh and no wallop – their bikes carry plenty of upgraded shuriken weaponry for shredding any foe foolish enough to get in the way. Simon: I used the Fatebreakers , the Aeldari Combat Patrol led by Farseer Iraneth. They’re a well-rounded collection including the high-speed manoeuvrability of two squads of Windriders , and a tough, hard-hitting Wraithlord that’s a threat at every range. The Guardian Defenders have some formidable firepower at their disposal too – especially when bolstered by the Farseer’s Eldritch Storm – and crucially, her Foresight Enhancement means they can Fire Overwatch on a 5+ or better, so they’re a massive threat. As a means of calming their tempestuous emotions and keeping their ancient enemy at bay, most Aeldari devote themselves to specialised Paths, on which they hone one skill, sometimes to the point of obsession. Aspect Warriors are the Aeldari who walk the martial paths. Each Aspect Shrine is built around the teachings of a Phoenix Lord, legendary figures inspired by the various ways the Aeldari god of War, Khaela Mensa Khaine, engaged in battle.

Since we are leaning into that Saim-Hann theme it would be appropriate to snag another Combat Patrol box. Doubling down on this core allows us to do a few things. First, we get another 10 Guardians. We can use them to fill out the previous squad or use them as two 10-man squads. Either option is useful for various reasons. Second, it gives us a total of 12 Jetbikes. We’re gonna need them. The additional Farseer and Wraithlord are less helpful here but maybe not as terrible as you might think.Even Aeldari engines of war are swift and agile, including tanks like the Fire Prism , which uses an intricate crystalline matrix to focus energy into either destructive pinpoint spears of light that can pierce the most formidable armour or deadly blasts that can obliterate hordes of armoured infantry.
