The Upside Down is an alternate dimension that mirrors our world — or at least our world if it was a toxic hellscape overrun with creepy, moving vines, filled with murderous creatures linked together in a hive mind system, and is constantly experiencing electrical storms. Lastly, after you finish your video and see how it plays out, you can choose to see it with different special effects! Maybe you will want to make your actors look silly, or you will play with the colors of the video. Try them all out and see what you prefer! The game continues, with players taking turns attempting to complete the same challenge each round, unit one player has earned five or more points. The first player to do so is the winner! Starting with the youngest player you take a card from the pile and complete the challenge. The twist in this game is that when it is your turn you have to wear the special glasses which flip everything you see upside down and gives you a narrow field of vision.

Stranger Things 4 revealed a lot about Eleven’s past and dropped a big twist about who is the true mastermind behind the Upside Down’s war on humanity. But with only one season left to go, we still have a lot of unanswered questions — several of which center around the Upside Down. There is naturally an amusing element to the game as people look funny in the glasses and can fail the challenges pretty impressively. This means I wouldn't recommend it if you can't laugh at yourself. The instructions say you can’t wear normal glasses underneath the special glasses, and although I found I can just about wear mine, it’s not very comfortable, it further reduces your field of vision and there is a risk you could scratch your glasses. If you can't see short distances without your glasses this game isn't going to be for you. By the way: one of the few facts I remember from my Psychology degree is that if you wear glasses that invert your vision for long enough your brain will correct what you see to the normal way up. I am absolutely not suggesting you test this out though, especially as George M Stratton found it took about 4 days. The glasses that come with this game should only be worn for short periods and under adult supervision.Now, with the barrier between the worlds barely intact, it’s only a matter of time before Vecna tries to fully take over our world. Summing up I would say The #UpsideDown Challenge Game isn't for everyone and it isn't the easiest to get going with, but with the right players you can have a lot of laughs. Overall, The #UpsideDownChallenge Game is one you’ll enjoy and most likely forget. The goggles, however, are going to live on and be enjoyed by the kids for much longer and well away from the gaming table. It’s fascinating to see the world upside down and even more attractive to observe how the simplest of activities suddenly turn into difficult tasks. I had my youngest try on the goggles before we played the game to see how debilitating they would indeed be. He could barely walk down the hall. That said, the human brain is an incredible thinking machine. The longer you play the game, the easier it is for the player to correct their actions. When that Demogorgon escaped into our world, it was able to create multiple temporary gates between the two dimensions, such as the one in Will’s room and the one Nancy goes through in the base of the tree. Eleven has also created temporary gates in the years since her escape from the lab, including the one in Hawkins Middle School. However, when Vecna got his fourth sacrifice in Max, it didn’t just create another small gate. Instead, huge rifts between the worlds opened up throughout Hawkins, turning the entire city into the biggest gate yet. It would be frustrating if you sat down to play the game and you didn't realise you need quite a few additional props before you can play. They are all items that you can probably find around the home, but it’s still a bit annoying to have to find them each time (especially the 3 toilet roll tubes). One of the challenges also requires water which will inevitably lead to some mess. Given the game cards and chips are cardboard introducing water into the mix just seems like an extra challenge that isn’t needed. A video is not perfect without the right sound design! After you have the setting and the main subject, the only thing left is to add sounds. You can choose one from the many you have at your disposal. You will be given different sound effects depending on the type of video you want to make, so there are plenty of options!The principle of the game is really quirky. Take your turn to complete a challenge indicated on a card wearing the pair of glasses included in the box. What is its particularity? The challenges to be met are simple and yet age is not necessarily an asset to help you better meet them. Everyone needs to be imaginative and confident to win. A good dose of concentration, adaptation and wit is welcome. Its two main strengths are the optical effect of reverse vision and its entertaining aspect. As it does not require any particular culture, it remains accessible to all. However, its contents should be kept away from children under 3 years old, as some small objects may present a risk of suffocation. What Comes in the Box? I feel the game is made more complicated than it needs to be because the box is designed to be sold to 5 countries so everything is in German, English, French, Italian and Dutch. The biggest issue with this is that the action cards explanations are in a booklet where as if just in one language per box I’m sure they could have put them on the cards. The first few times you play you will need to refer to the booklet and the symbol explanation card every turn which is a bit of a faff. Each challenge card has two difficulty levels so younger children can do the easier ones (marked with a feather) and adults can do the ones marked with a dumbbell.
