I think if you're a fan of Sali Hughes than it makes sense to read as it's her chatting away and giving you advice. However, this was a very enjoyable read, I like Sali's style and all her Pool Columns, some of which are repeated here.Here she expands the brief and gives you tips on everything from how to get divorced without going to prison to how to hang a pair of curtains. I bought this book thinking I’d dip in and out of it occasionally, but once I started reading it I got so absorbed I read it cover to cover over a few days. She's also strong when writing about fashion and clothes, and if the book had focused only on those elements it would have been a strong 4 stars from me. Her comments giving direction on "how to grieve" are incredibly trite and extremely offensive to those of us who have actually experienced grief. Fashion is a subjective section, I think if you like Sali's style posts on IG you may enjoy this chapter.

I never fail to hear her voice narrating to me in my head while I read, such is her distinctive style of writing.A love letter to those of us who were not taught some basics, were taught it in a culturally displaced manner, or were just not taught things in entirety.

Listened to this as an Audiobook over past month and have loved all the pearls of wisdom it contains . I can relate to some of her stories she openly shares within the book and she talks with such reassuring confidence.Not only is it a quick reference guide that can be dipped in and out of, but it's a cosy and comforting read that you can curl up with after a long day. I did frequently think what a lovely gift it would make to someone in their late teens or early 20s leaving home for the first time, but then wondered if said someone wouldn't be more likely to get their life advice from Tiktok and Youtube. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. Although it sometimes felt a bit jumbled, the advice is split in to helpful categories and the index helps too. If you're not a wealthy, house-and-garden, dinner party, fashion-conscious, able-bodied cis woman in your 30s living in Britain, most of it isn't very relevant.

I enjoyed Sali Hughes’ first couple of books - which genuinely shared useful information drawn from her expertise and experience as a beauty journalist, make up artist and beauty fan. If there is anyone's advice I'm going to follow with regard to skincare and beauty purchases, it is hers. I also love the personable way in which the book is written - Sali's approach feels direct, genuine and with a sharp sense of humour.

The content could have been so easily contained in a short pamphlet - Wear sunscreen, don't be a slave to fashion and this is how you cook pasta.
