Somewhat reminiscent of Groundhog Day, this continues to happen.But then Gwen wakes up to discover it’s Christmas all over again. She’s trapped in a snowy Groundhog Day. But would repeat meet-cutes with Dev really be so bad for a heart that needs mending? The book has a great combination of British humor, relatable characters, witty lines, weird circumstances and a whole feel of wholesomeness. As anyone can guess from a time loop for Christmas, the main goal is for the main character to straighten herself out and find her potential again and each recycled day is giving her a new perspective by helping and listening the people around her. It is almost like a crash course for reimagining yourself and how she goes through things is mostly fully relatable, though personally, I'd enjoy reliving the same day a bit more! Gwen learns you can most definitely have too much of a good thing. One Christmas day with a typical dysfunctional family was manageable, and two was bearable, but by groundhog day #5 the tinsel definitely had lost its sparkle. The Baker family are the middle-class equivalent of The Royle Family complete with a crazy nan though, unlike Jim, Gwen's dad prefers a walk to a pint. Thankfully this heart-warming and life-affirming story didn't lose its shine. In an attempt to get to know those closest to her a little better, to make their wishes come true, Gwen also learnt an awful lot about herself too, like allowing herself to ask for help. Overall, this was a sweetly fun, lighthearted read that offered unexpected moments of wisdom as Gwen desperately seeks a way to bring this Christmas-Day-on-repeat to an end, believing that if she can determine each of their Christmas wishes and fulfill them, it will finally end this seeming nightmare.

The writing is easy to read and flows with natural humor. It is silly, quirky, and even eye-roll-inducing. But it is entertaining and lighthearted. Even those several pop culture references didn’t diminish the effect. Pros: great writing, genuinely funny af (no boss babe or pander express humor), cool premise, great characters except for the dad but I don't like dads in general *shrugs*, cute ending that left me smiling in the dark with my lil reading light like a dummy This story was an okay read. A lot of family drama. I was thinking it was a romance story and looking forward to cute romance but there were little of it. A lot of repetition since the same day started over again like 6 times. So much whining about unhappy job, being dumped, and the ache for the boy next door.. I do enjoyed the humor though.Sparkles with wit and warmth . . . I’ll read anything Lindsey writes, but this one might just be my new favourite of her novels’ BETH O’LEARY Newly single lawyer Gwen Baker needs a family Christmas to bury her woes, with festive films, country walks and a mountain of chocolate. I’m glad I went into the prepared to read it more as Women’s Fiction than romance. Right expectations are important to enjoy the book.

Lindsey Kelk has hit the sweet spot with a festive romcom that’s Groundhog Day meets The Family Stone’ StylistAbsolutely screamingly hilarious, full of Christmas-y sparkle and a lovely boy-next-door romance, but with some serious depth to bring you all the feels' LIZZY DENT The Christmas Wish is Lindsey Kelk’s best yet. I couldn’t have loved this romantic, festive, brilliantly funny novel more’ ROSIE WALSH When Gwen starts living the same strange day over and over again she decides to turn this into opportunity to make each of her family members’ wishes come true. The characters are well-defined despite not being too layered. What we see is enough to understand their essence. Gwen has a few not-so-nice moments, but those make her human. After all, who hasn’t embarrassed themselves at one time or another? A bit of exaggeration is expected in fiction, so I don’t mind.
