The quest for purity led to the development of premium vodkas, which started appearing on the market in the 1990s. Grey Goose led the way, but many other brands followed, with producers creating increasingly expensive super-premium and ultra-premium expressions. Superbly luxurious expressive vodka, smoky citrus notes, meet vanilla and coconut, ripe stone and tropical fruit. There is a delicious sweet warming quality, almost rum-like and a candied chocolate creaminess to boot The Siberian artesian water used to make it, combined with the triple filtration process results in a vodka with a purity and softness that really makes you appreciated the quality of Mamont vodka. There is a subtle sweetness on the palate, with a slight nutty after-tone from the cedar nuts with a vanilla finish. Famille Naud is a French Cognac producer who also produces a pot still, winter wheat-based vodka. The grain is sourced from the agricultural region to the northeast of Paris.

In the pure environment of the Altai region, we cultivate wheat, rye, barley and millet, which we use to produce our malt spirit. Grand and luxurious, the nose opens with cacao and hazelnut and the palate introduces faint notes of nutmeg and clove before rich chocolate and tonka bean emerge. (Tonka bean is extremely aromatic, offering up aromas of almond, vanilla and sweet pipe tobacco. It has high levels of the chemical coumarin and is illegal to sell in the US for human consumption ). In 2002, the Yukagir Mammoth was unearthed in Yakutia, Arctic Siberia, having spent 18,00 years in the ice. Today, the Itkul Distillery is the only distillery in the whole of Russia to produce alcohol from pure malt. Vodka from distant Siberia has the shape of a mammoth tusk. Its secret of exceptional smoothness, softness and richness of tones lies in unique Siberian raw materials and craftsmanship. It is made from pure sibrabe wheat and crystal clear water. Mamont vodka is filtered three times through Siberian birch charcoal, which gives it endless softness. Local cedar nuts are used for the final flavor. Distilled at the foot of the Altai Mountains by a team of skilled craftsmen, Mamont Vodka is produced using only traditional methods and natural ingredients local to Siberia. Founded in 1868, Itkul Distillery is Siberia’s oldest, and the only distillery in the whole of Russia to produce alcohol from pure malt. In Mamont’s production, the finest Siberian white winter wheat is first selected and carefully fermented then blended with water from the Altai Mountain springs, renowned throughout Russia for its purity. This blend is then distilled six times before a small proportion of cedar nut spirit is added to the liquid, which is then triple filtered through Siberian silver birch charcoal. The result is a refined, crystal-clear vodka. Made from winter wheat grown on a single estate in southern Sweden, Absolut’s luxury bottling Elyx is distilled in a vintage copper column still from 1921. This is one of our favourite vodkas: rich and rounded, with a luscious silky texture. Light grain aromas, plus notes of fresh bread, white chocolate and mellow spice.
