There’s 2 major reasons people generally like the gitz: They like the underdogs, or they like the silliness (or both!). Gitz have been seen as the underdog army basically from Age of Sigmar’s inception. Their rules have always been a bit haphazard, weaker than equivalent units and subject to a lot of randomness. This does have a certain appeal to a kind of person who didn’t really care about winning and just wanted to cause some chaos on the table. Gitz were notorious for the fact that for a long time they didn’t have subfactions, until they did. The Battletome did not launch with any, but they’d eventually get some through White Dwarf, then reprinted in Broken Realms. They were…fine, in a ‘better than nothing’ sort of way. This expert grot’s acute understanding of squiggly physiology is unparalleled, and he’s agreed to help us catalogue some of many squigs of the Mortal Realms. The rarest form of these Squigs are referred to as Juicy Squigs and require a special Gretchin cook to be prepared properly. Orks reserve the eating of Face-Eater Squigs for special contests. Path to Glory rules for your Gloomspite Gitz to concoct strange and esoteric potions to empower your clan. The Gas Squig produces a toxic gas so Orks with gas masks throw this Squig in combat, using the Squig itself as a chemical weapon. The Horned Squig is a Squig which is gifted with long, sharp horns stretching from its head that Orks often jam into barricades to serve as living obstacles.

Needless to say, these creatures not only make for excellent ammunition for Squig Launchas, but they are also dropped by the crews of Rukkatrukk Squigbuggies as living landmines, and are favourite props when it comes to Greenskin practical jokes. Nothing provokes greater amusement amongst a Rukkatrukk crew than hiding a Boom Squig under their driver's seat, though this can prove inconvenient for everyone if it happens to trigger while the buggy is in full motion. The arachnarok of the Webspinner Shaman also got 2 extra wounds, upgraded its fangs to 3 damage and now has a flat, non-degrading 10” move – this is a nice change for all of the big spiders. The warscroll spell here got a little bit worse as it’s +1 to the mortal wounds done by the target unit rather than double, but remember that doubling ability is now a command trait. Yes, you can make the Scuttleboss do 6 mortal wounds for every 6 to hit. Battleline Buzzer Squigs are an insect-like variation of the Squig typically used by Orks in a Squig Katapult, as they are very vicious and a swarm can strip the flesh off a man-sized creature within seconds. Buzzer Squigs are found among Ork fungus groves and are trapped in pots by Gretchin. The special pots are made from sun-baked mud, drilled with tiny holes to allow the Squigs inside to breathe. The top of the vessel is corked shut and sealed with more mud once a good number of Squigs has been put inside. Basically we have a mix now of different Squig interpretations, the puking Squig Gobba even simulating the 1 roll of earliest Squigs. It's a bit of everything. But all well designed and working fluffwise. After all the available Blood Bowl Negaskills can all represent different states of a Squig; they only start moving when driven by their Herders (Really Stupid), if enraged they become a danger for their own masters (Bloodlust) and the chained Mangler Squig resembles the chaotic movement of those wild animals... There’s three interesting, if not overwhelmingly strong, options for the Dankhold Troggboss. Firstly, Alpha Trogg provides two extra wounds and the Monster keyword, a small mercy for everyone who thought they should be monsters anyway. Trogg Smash is a once per battle 3” mortal wound bomb that triggers after the Troggboss fights. Most intriguing is Loonskin which lets you take one of the non-arachnacauldron Gitz endless spells for 0 points and lets your general attempt to cast it (but crucially, does not make them a wizard so any of those predatory spells will be wild). ArtefactsVanguard Deployment: This unit can deploy in an expanded deployment area, allowing it to start the battle within striking distance of the enemy - or somewhere unexpected. Cave squigs come in all shapes and sizes, and certain breeds have evolved – or devolved – to suit specific ecological niches in their nocturnal environment. Squigs with particularly oversized olfactory organs are known as snufflesquigs , employed by their Snuffler masters to detect special strains of intoxicating fungus.
