We found the kayak to be incredibly sturdy and durable, even when we were in rougher water with the wind blowing against us. If stability is important to you then you should consider one of the wider versions of inflatable kayak. They are all built to be stable but broader bottoms will make you feel more secure especially if you have difficulty getting in and out. Both the foot braces and the seats can be placed in different positions in the boat. For the foot brace there are 3 positions each for the front and rear paddler. You can also fix the seat variably to the ground with a long velcro strip. Especially the foot braces surprised us, because something like that is not common in this price class. Like other inflatable kayaks, the Intex Challenger K2 kayak is constructed of vinyl plastic with welded seams. This construction is quite durable and resistant to impacts with blunt objects and abrasions. Inflatable kayaks like the Challenger K2 aren’t as stiff as hardshell kayaks, which allows them to flex in the water. This makes the hull durable, but also less efficient to paddle. Narrow, high-pressure air tubes in the floor of the kayak (known as “I-beams”) add rigidity and larger chambers around the perimeter of the hull provide buoyancy.

If you are kayaking on waterways in England or Wales, then you might need a license (although this is not the case on all UK waterways). If you look for another affordable kayak, then the Itiwit x100+ might be a good kayak for you as a beginner. It’s a well-designed boat with good materials and quality but due to the hull the driving performance isn’t outstanding. It’s a good leisure boat for slow and comfortable tours on calm waters.

If you are looking for a beginner kayak to maybe do some touring in, the Sea Eagle is a better choice as it is more rugged, and has a larger capacity. This kayak is made of strong material, it can take a lot of abuse and still hold up, it won't puncture easily.
