I found that it got to be a bit much in the romance department and instead of keeping Sooki with a few admirers, every man she came across in the book HAD to have her. For awhile I taped soap operas and watched them at night when I thought I might be forgetting what it was like to be human.

I grew up hearing people say things like, “Sure enough, some sumbitch, scuse me, was sneaking around the house,” which is what Bubba (and by “Bubba” I mean ELVIS) said after he scared away the creeper from Sookie’s house. In fact, it has been proven that, on an emotional level, males and females have the same kind of brain. Although it was a good book I didn't enjoy it as much as other vampire series I've read like Twilight by Stephenie Meyer or The Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine. You’ve got nearly a dozen books before you need to be worried about anything, and if you simply can’t accept the ending, I’m sure you can find a fanfic somewhere that will do your dreams justice. Sookie's "voice" works better in some books than in others, and some plot threads are more compelling than others.

I covered my face with my hands and turned back, but I'd certainly seen all there was to see of Sam. You don't find out who the murderer is until the last ten pages and unlike most murder or mystery books there wasn't a big long list of who it could be you just didn't know, you had no idea who it could be.

In year 1996, Harris wrote the first in Shakespeare series that featured cleaning woman detective Lily Bard and it was set in rural – Arkansas. Andy Bellefleur - Human and an insecure detective that feels he should be regarded with more respect. She works in Merlottes bar and here you will meet her employer Sam and some of her workmates including Arlene and the ever flamboyant Lafayette.As Bill leaves Merlotte's, he is attacked by the Rattrays, a couple who steal blood from vampires to sell on the black market. What I don’t like about her is that Harris goes out of her way to remind me that she’s poor, uneducated, and backwater; I feel like I wouldn’t consider her to be such if she didn’t bring it up so much. I haven’t seen the shows, so I can not contrast but I can compare it to other of the very same style books that I have actually read. She's quiet, keeps to herself and doesn't get out much - not because she's not pretty - she's a very cute bubbly blonde - or not interested in a social life.
