What I love about this foundation is how adaptable the coverage is. I feel it has a good, glowy texture and it covers my redness quite well. I only use a little to the extent I like it, but I have used a bit more a few times just to see what this would do and how it would sit on the skin. It looks great for the first few hours, but after that this really starts to break down. I have quite dry skin, so I don’t have any issues with any oils coming up, but on my chin and around my nose the foundation would easily start to bunch up and look cakey. It looks great elsewhere on my face though. It looks great on the cheeks and it doesn’t pull into fine lines. What is the shade match like? It also has to be a breeze to apply. Overzealous blending can aggravate your skin and make dry patches more noticeable, so a formula that is both blendable and buildable (harder to find than it sounds) is key.

Much like my ill-fated crushes, when it comes to foundations I have a type. Light to medium coverage and 'glowy'. So, when I first heard about NYX Professional Makeup's Born To Glow, I hoped it would be a match, but little did I know we would end up in a fully committed relationship. Alternatively, we highly recommend opting for some of their other foundations if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. There aren’t too many details about the Born to Glow foundation that states that it’s for sensitive skin or that it’s non-comedogenic. Shade range: 36. So I’m not mad at it – I’ve seen worse, but I’ve also seen better. What I do love however is that each shade family (from light to deep) is available in a range of undertones including cool, neutral, warm and olive.Shade range: 21. There’s work to be done here, but as the coverage is so lightweight, it seems to work well with a wide spectrum of skin tones.

I have worked my way through many foundation bottles and this one has remained a firm favourite. With just a few light taps of a beauty sponge, it completely blurs your complexion and leaves a fresh finish without looking cake face-y. (Yep, dreamy). So, this particular NYX foundation has a lot to offer. Below are some of the aspects about it that we feel like are major benefits: Vegan This particular foundation is highly rated, and we give it a big thumbs up as well. However, there are some notable downsides to this product. Here’s what we discovered: Yellow Undertone I would categorize this as a rich and creamy formula. It feels more like a heavy moisturizer than a foundatio when this goes on initially. It blends in beautifully and the shade is also a great match for me as you will see in a picture below. This foundation is one where I feel you can manipulate it a bit more than others. You can wear it full on medium coverage if you’d like but you could also just use a bit less product and it sheers out beautifully. I have worn it both ways and it works quite well. The only downside here? Longevity. This sadly doesn’t last very long. It adheres to texture and dry patches quite badly after a few hours and I have also experienced this fading and looking patchy as it didn’t stay put. It rubs off quite easily. What is the coverage like? Compared to other beauty brands, NYX is one of the few brands on the less expensive side that hold up very well to the more expensive competition. If you’re new to wearing makeup or if you’re simply on a budget, we highly recommend NYX products. Throw into the mix a complexion that's drier than the Sahara desert, and finding a foundation that stays looking dewy can feel near impossible. We think this is a good NYX foundation to try if you have acne-prone skin or sensitive skin.

On the other hand, they have other products within their foundation line that are specifically designed for sensitive skin. They’re vegan and don’t include harsh ingredients. By understanding your skin, you’ll know exactly which product to opt for. We recommend thoroughly reading the details of each foundation before making a decision. Get the Right Color For a few of the lighter shades, we noticed that it was a bit yellow. If your skin is fair color, we recommend using more than one shade to see which one matches the best. This isn’t an issue that everyone will face, even if you have fair skin, but we thought that it was worth noting. Here’s our list of alternatives: Total Control Pro Drop Foundation When I say I've tried a lot of foundations this year, I really mean I've tried a lot, in fact I'd go as far to say I've almost tried them all. We really do expect a lot out of our foundations. First, the shade range has to be decent — we’re not messing around with limited shades and minimal undertones these days. Next up, the formula needs to include plenty of moisturising ingredients like hyaluronic acid to keep our skin dewy and hydrated.

If you like makeup that provides a decent amount of coverage without giving you that cakey appearance, we’re confident that you’ll like this product. It’s a buildable foundation, so even if you have a day when you want a little more coverage, you can always build on top of it. If your skin’s drier than my sex life, you need to get your hands on this foundation from Kosas. The liquid consistency gives the same energy as my fave serum formulas, making it feel weightless and hydrating. It blends like an absolute dream and leaves a stunning luminosity that looks second-skin-esque. If you have very dry skin, you might find that this product is a bit drying. Again, this isn’t an issue that everyone will face, but we have noticed that this is an issue for some. Therefore, we recommend testing out the product first before completely diving in with it. How to Use NYX Born to Glow Foundation Shade range: The highest shade range I can find is 8, which obviously isn’t great. So, I’d suggest using a handy shade finder tool, like Findation.com, to find your best-suited match. Glowy foundations are typically a big no for me between my oily-to-combination skin, love for the matte makeup look and obsession with highlighters. So, I was obviously hesitant to try the new Born To Glow! Foundation, but because I love the other products in this cult-classic NYX line, I felt like I needed to give it a shot. The first thing I noticed when trying the Neutral Tan shade was how lightweight and flexible the formula felt — it’s extremely buildable, easy to layer over any type of primer or moisturizer, and it felt pretty comfortable on my skin. After application, I was also pleased to discover that my skin tone appeared a lot more even and beaming, which made me realize that it was really working. Even after a few hours, I didn’t feel the need to reach for a mattifying powder, blotting sheet or even a highlighter (!!!). I felt that it was just the right amount of luminous matte , and damn, the product might make me a glowy-foundation convert.If you live a vegan lifestyle, or if you just enjoy products that include better ingredients, opt for this foundation; it’s made with ingredients that won’t irritate your skin or your morals. You can’t beat that! Affordable Price Answer: Most NYX foundations are vegan. If you want to make sure that you use vegan products, you won’t have an issue with this makeup brand. NYX products complement a vegan lifestyle. Nyx Born to Glow Foundation Review: Conclusion Some people swear by a powder foundation, and we get it. That’s why we’ve added this alternative to the foundation mentioned above. This product comes as a pressed powder and offers a smooth, matte finish. You’ll get a flawless appearance without getting a” cakey face. Coverage: Think of this as a tint that perks up your complexion, rather than a foundation. One pump (seriously, less is more with this stuff) is all you need to sweep a dewy, oh-so-light sheen of coverage across your skin. It's not one I'd suggest if you want to amp up the glam for a night out (even though it is buildable), but for daytime wear, it’s pretty perfect. Medium, with buildable coverage, Born to Glow promises to give a "just-applied" 12-hour glow and boy does it deliver.
