It has humour, fun black and white illustrations and just the right amount of text on each page to be fun and not daunting. contemporary children’s poetry, drawing closely on his own childhood experiences, and ‘telling it as it was’ in the ordinary language children actually use. Some of the books in this set have less text and more pictures and progress too more text per page and slightly less pictures. This is absolutely perfect for any children moving on to slightly longer books (it doesn't actually have chapters, but if your child is just moving on to chapter books, this is an ideal choice) or to read aloud.

Multi-award-winning Tony Ross has become one of the best-known creators of original and traditional picture books and his work has been published all over the world. He went to art school in Liverpool and has since worked as a typographer for design and advertising agencies. I chose the book for him because as a teacher I read Michael Rosen's books and poetry frequently to my classes.

There is a girl who asked her mum for a dog but she got a fish so she names him fluff hoping he would grow fur and legs. He was the Children’s Laureate from 2007-2009 and has published over 200 books for children and adults, including the recent bestseller Many Different Kinds of Love and On The Move. Michael attended Middlesex Hospital Medical School for a year but transferred to Wadham College, Oxford to study English Literature. Before long, she discovers that Fluff has an amazing talent - but is it enough to win a talent show?
