Nothing about the stove feels cheap, in fact most ultralight backpackers would expect to pay a lot more for a piece of equipment that is this lightweight. My stove is also leaking from the orange knob, I have wrapped the o rings in PTFE tape for now but would like to properly repair as it's been a good little stove, you said you replaced the O rings in yours, what size did yuou fit and where did you get them from? Well, maybe you take two week trips to Alaska all the time and it’s not big deal, but if it were me, I wouldn’t want to screw up what would be for me a special trip. I placed a tunafish can lid on top with small holes drilled around the center as to better disperse the heat.

I’ve gotten in the habit of carrying my ultralight bushbox with me as a backup to my BRS-3000T on overnight trips.In my opinion, you have to have a method in mind before you take the WindMaster out into the field to deal with the pot support (to make sure that the support doesn’t get lost). I think that it's fair to say that the BRS-3000T is the worlds first true super ultralight (SUL) canister stove. For boiling water however this stove works great for both tall and wide pots and creates fairly large heating spot to boil water fast.

If you light the stove in windy conditions before the pot is placed on top, the flame will literally be burning sideways, so you need to take care of your hands when lighting the stove. Some hikers completing trails of many thousands of miles in length will use this stove throughout and be happy with it. It might be taken on day hikes, or where the weather forecast is mild and stronger breezes or winds are not expected, or even carried as a back-up stove. With the BRS-3000T, not only is the pot far up off the ground, but the narrow span of the delicate cooking arms makes using anything other than backpacking cookware impossible – or at least a bit dangerous.A persistant concern is that the stove can transmit heat down to the canister and make the canister too hot to put a finger on. We highly recommend this stove as an entry-level stove or even a backup stove for those heading out on longer trips in remote areas. I don’t like recommending windscreens for gas stoves as there is a rather large safety concern around the things blowing up when a windscreen traps too much heat reflecting it back in on the canister. I bought a 1L Boundless Voyage aluminum pot with the built-in heat exchanger ring and the stove platform fits right within the heat exchanger's inner diameter.For the majority of hikers this is the type of stove carried where small size and weight win over gas efficiency and features. We think this is a great little stove for solo trips of 1-3 nights in the summer, especially when paired with similarly light and small cookware.

Even though the flame control is good enough I would not use this stove with a frying pan because the burner size is fairly small and most likely will heat a pan in a relatively small spot. No canister stand comes with the stove, and most weight-conscious backpackers would prefer a 4-ounce canister, but our testers found that the increased mass of an 8-ounce fuel can vastly improved stability. I bought two of them and the one above (in its cute little stuff sack given to me my Gary Dunckel) has got a huge amount of time on it… I couldn’t even begin to guess how much because I used it many hours for cold-weather fuel testing and fuel consumption testing… and have used it a lot in the field. Bought one of these several years ago (don't remember exactly when) and whenever I fly abroad it comes with me.Limitations of the Pot Supports - Though this feature is what makes the 3000-T so compact and ultralight, there’s a cost and it comes with what pots this burner can bear. This way you can be certain that your expectation will match reality when you are out there in the wild for the first time with the new stove. The Soto Windmaster can be better regulated and my preference will always fall with it if I’m cooking my own home-made meals.
