One of the best-known and most popular uses for OxiClean is removing tough stains from laundry items like clothing, towels, and linens. Here’s how to use OxiClean in the washer: Soak your clothing in a solution made with OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover Powder and water for up to 6 hours and wash as you usually would. Borax and OxiClean do not expire as long as they are kept in a dry environment. If they are exposed to humidity, they will crystalize and harden. Bottom Line: Should You Use Borax or OxiClean? Not only is OxiClean the safer option, but it comes in several forms, including powder, liquid spray, and laundry detergent; borax is only sold as a powder. I have heard the adage if it’s yellow let it mellow and if it’s brown flush it down but the protein in urine will cause this in your bowl.

But what’s the difference? When should you use each? Is one safer or more effective than the other? Make sure that you’re always using hot water to mix up your solutions, this way the product can completely dissolve. If you need to use the solution on something where cold water is necessary, that’s fine, whip up the solution and then let it cool. We got a lot of new outdoor furniture this year when we re-did our patio, but had a few pieces that we wanted to keep from our old patio furniture. Unfortunately, they had quite a bit of staining on them from the rough winter we had and they really stood out against the new furniture. After a good cleaning with the OxiClean™ solution, however, they looked as good as new. To clean, fill the scoop to line 4 and mix with one gallon of hot water. Apply the solution with a rag or sponge and scrub as needed. Rinse it down with the hose and dry. If you’ve just been using OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover for your regular laundry routine, you’ve been missing out. Give these 7 Things to Clean with OxiClean™ a try – you’ll be amazed at what one product can do! If the stain is fresh, remove any loose particles and blot up as much of the stain as possible before treating. To clean the remaining stain, mix up a solution of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover and hot water in an unsealed container, filling OxiClean™ powder to line 1 per 16 ounces of water and pour into a squeeze bottle. After you steam clean with OxiClean, you’ll look at your carpet and it will be miles better. But borax also has many other applications aside from laundry. You can use it as an all-around cleaner for kitchens and bathrooms, an odor reducer, or even a water softener. Borax is also great for eliminating bugs and weeds.

Although borax and OxiClean are both used as stain removers, laundry aids, and all-purpose cleaners, they have several distinct differences. If you need to spot clean your baby carrier, grab some OxiClean baby product and just make up your spot clean solution. Use a cleaning toothbrush to apply it to the affected surface. I often use this to clean the straps and it works like a charm. Make sure to give it a good rinse with a damp microfiber cloth to make sure all extra product has been removed. Bottom line — borax and OxiClean are both highly effective and inexpensive. But if you’re on the fence, go with Oxiclean. OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover works in any temperature water, but best in warm to hot water. Do NOT use boiling water. Whatever kind of stain you encounter on your upholstery, as long as you test this product in a hidden area first, you should be able to get the stain out by using the spot clean solution and then treating the same surface with some water to remove any excess, blotting it up with a paper towel. I’ve had great success with this.Mix them into shampooer tank and mix with hot water to fill the tank completely. This will not only clean your carpets it will also deodorize. It will smell slightly of vinegar until the carpet is dry. Love Oxiclean. I used to soak my sons’ football and lacrosse practice pads and uniforms in the utility sink overnight. The pads inside the helmets were attached with velcro and everything had a good soak and scrub. It worked great! My parents used a mixture on their white vinyl siding to remove creosote. It worked really well on that too. Borax and OxiClean are good for spot cleaning, but I prefer BISSELL DeepClean + Refresh for cleaning the whole rug.
