Use with teleconverters: Yes, Sigma offers two teleconverters TC-1411 and TC-2011 which multiply focal length and maximum magnification by 1.4x resp. 2x – but only for L-mount. The lens probably does not work with Sony’s 1.4x and 2x teleconverters – only the Sony 200-600 certifiably works on Sony’s teleconverters. [+] For most shots, though, that's not going to be an issue. You won't typically put the primary focus of your image in the extreme corners, after all. Overall, we find ourselves very pleased with sharpness from this lens, and happy that the focus plane is flat enough that you don't need to focus differently for the center and corners. Plus it can reach magnifications of 1:2.5 at very usable working distances. But although much lighter than its DSLR sibling the lens still is heavy approaching 3kg with camera attached. Two long telephoto zoom lenses Macro performance is excellent. It's sharp wide-open and gets even sharper stopped down. It gets closest at the shorter focal lengths, but doesn't focus as close at 600mm. Thus the largest image is had at the 200mm setting where you still can get very close and have a reasonably long focal length. If this crop is about 12" (30cm) wide on your screen, then the complete image printed at this same extreme magnification would be about 58×87" (4.8×7.2 feet or 1.5×2.2 meters). Its optics are wonderful; sharp and contrasty all the time. Most people make mistakes like shooting with not enough light, shooting at slower shutter speeds with subject motion, shooting above ISO 100 or at smaller than f/11 which lead to softer images regardless of your equipment. For best results I shoot this lens always wide-open at ISO 100 if at all possible for the sharpest results. You don't need a tripod unless you're using teleconverters. I easily hand-hold this beast with its excellent stabilizer at 600mm.
