Overall, the Peanut actually performs reasonably well in terms of being non-slip (it’s much better than the Bumbo changer in particular). In this article I compare some of the most popular next generation rubber changing pads on the market, as well as offering tips on what to look for in a diaper changing pad. The idea behind the slope is that any pee that happens while your baby is diaperless on the changer will run away from their head and body, perhaps even pooling down near their feet. The top image shows the steeper angle near the head of the Bumbo changer, and the bottom image shows the slightly less steep angle of the change pad near the foot. Additionally, the Keekaroo peanut changer, as it’s name implies, has a distinct peanut shape, whereas the Matty, instead, is a rectangle.

Finally, the Bumbo changer is a great “more affordable” choice for a wipe-clean baby change mat. It’s not my top choice, as I do like the other three better, but it absolutely gets the job done and is a solid option if you don’t want to shell out for one of the other three brands. Although it has a firm surface, parents find it surprisingly soft for baby’s comfort. (That said, some say it can be cold for baby during cooler months.) This changing pad is sturdy and has substantial weight to it, which helps keep it firmly in place during diaper changes, in addition to its slip-resistant bottom. It's a great dresser changing pad because you won't have to buy any additional materials to make it stay.

Note, I originally wrote this post by personally testing the Keekaroo Peanut, Bumbo Change Pad, and the Hatch Baby Grow Smart Changing Pad and Scale, but not the Leander Matty. Now that I’ve also bought and have personal experience with the Leander Changing Pad, I’ve updated the post to reflect this! Additionally, I really like the simplified shape of the Matty changing pad. Don’t get me wrong – the peanut-shape on the Keekaroo is cute, but the simple rectangle actually gives baby more space to stretch and flop out, however their limbs want!

They’re both a more structured, wipe clean alternative to a traditional changing pad, soft to the touch, with contoured edges that can help babies feel secure while they’re getting changed. The material is spongy and soft (not at all like a hard rigid plastic). The material is durable, and does a pretty good job at resisting tears, peeling and full-on punctures in the surface. A cost-effective, yet still quality, changing pad is the Summer Infant Changing Pad. With a vinyl, waterproof case and raised sides, your baby will be both clean and safe. The wipeable surface makes it easy to maintain when you have all those baby clothes and changing pad covers to wash as well. In addition, the non-slip bottom keeps it stable, no matter where you need to change baby. Infants do best with this type of changing pad on top of a changing table.

Why We Like It: It's made with organic cotton material and certified free of potentially irritating chemicals. It has a removable safety strap that can be placed in a drawer when it’s not in use, so you can keep it out of your little one’s hands. While there’s practically nothing I don’t love about my Keekaroo Peanut changer, I will say that it’s somewhat heavy, so I’d recommend it more for at-home use. It’s definitely not as conducive to taking on-the-go because it can’t be folded up easily. These restrictions are in place to ensure the integrity of the products and protect the health of customers.

Not only is the base meant to be non-slip, but the changing pad also has a tabletop attachment so you can attach it to a dresser or changing table surface. The weight limit on the Hatch Grow is a bit higher than the Keekaroo and the Bumbo: 44 pounds vs 30 pounds. I expect your kiddo will outgrow the changing pad use of this well before they’re 44 pounds, so I honestly don’t really consider this to be a huge benefit for most families.I would definitely recommend the Keekaroo Peanut diaper changer to any parent. Even if you only plan on having one child, you will get a lot of use out of it and it can be re-sold or passed on very easily, as it’s a high-demand item. While the Keekaroo is the original, Bumbo is like the original Keekaroo Peanut dupe. And while they look super similar at first glance, there are some key differences you’ll want to consider before purchasing.
