There’s really only that 1 option (as well as a Leader, of course), b ut if you want your warband to be more elite and hit hard, you can’t go wrong with these guys. While they all have their own Bladeborn runemark that allows them to have specific abilities, they also belong to a faction and they can be integrated with fighters from the same faction. They can also use all abilities from their faction in addition to their specific ones. Korsh “The Sneak” can ambush from a board edge – giving you that true beastmen feeling – the unexpected fighter in the wild. Introduced in the new season of Warcry, Reactions are things that can be done in certain circumstances, but always during the enemy turn. They cost one action, so they can be used only by fighters that have not activated yet or are waiting. There are 3 universal reactions and one specific to each warband:

Drizgit is a much improved Squig Herder with the same ability to prod Squigs to make a bonus move, 2″ range melee weapon, higher damage (2/4) and higher Toughness (4) and wounds (12). Gang Up(Double, Krookgrin, Gikkit and Shank):activate another one of them within range immediately after. This warband contains 6 fighters as I mentioned earlier in the review. They share the same inspire mechanic which revolves around having 2 or more enemy fighters out of action. It’s straightforward but heavily matchup dependent on whether it’s easy or difficult.

Ylthari is a Thornwych, a profile not existing in Warcry before. The closest would be a Branchwych, with which she shares both weapon profiles but her movement is 4″ instead of 6″. She has her own ability, The Reaping, that allows to damage any enemy within 6″ on a 2+. If you have a Quad high enough you can do some serious damage. In a narrative campaign these fighters do not roll for injuries or renown. They cannot take artefacts of power but can take heroic traits (rules have been adapted for Warcry 2.0 in White Dwarf 482). The great thing about Warhammer Underworlds warbands is that you can try out different painting techniques and styles you wouldn’t normally use or that you’ve wanted to experiment with. For my personal challenge, I set out to paint all the Beastgrave and Dreadfane warbands while also trying out new techniques, painting guides, and colours. For example, I wanted to use some Contrast paints and improve my blending and airbrushing.

Korsh is the oldest of all the Ungors with an impressive beard to match. He only has a Shortspear but really shines due to his unique action. This allows him to be placed from 1 edge hex to another. He gains a charge token after using this action but it’s very versatile and allows you to setup a lot of plays while also helping to cover long distances for board control. Zharkus and Ghartok are Blood Warriors with Goreaxe and Gorefist, with access to same profile and abilities at an increased cost.Rippa’s Snarlfangs are Gloomspite Gitz third Bladeborn warband from Warhammer Underworlds Season 3.

Hunter and Quarry: keywords can be attached to fighters using certain cards. Particular key for those warbands who generally try to upgrade and empower a single key fighter. Some of the most powerful upgrades in Beastgrave require you to have a specific keyword to use.Murgoth inspired has his Shortspear go from 2 fury to 3 fury. He just becomes more reliable in combat.
