Description

Finishing: When the mix loses its plasticity and becomes opaque, which usually takes place after 15-30 minutes, clean off the excess Ultracolor Plus with a hard, damp sponge (e.g. a MAPEI sponge), working in a diagonal direction to the joints. Rinse the sponge frequently, using two different containers of water: one to remove the excess mix from the sponge, and the other, containing clean water, to rinse the sponge. This operation may also be carried out with a machine with a sponge belt or rotating disc. When the mix is partially set, after 50-60 minutes, a damp Scotch-Brite® sponge or an abrasive felt disc may be passed over the joints to even out the surface. Tile grout is only there to fill the gaps between the tiles and stop the dirt getting in, so any old cheap and cheerful material will do, won’t it?" It is also suitable for residential use in all areas, such as facades, balconies, terraces and swimming pools. This is where tile grout comes into play, providing a hard and water-repelling barrier against dirt and moisture. Grouting is a key part of the tile installation process. Aesthetically, it provides a beautifully smooth result and adds the finishing touch to your tiling job. Practically, it means you can enjoy long-lasting tiles that perform as they should, rather than becoming damaged by dirt, debris and water over time. If you choose to skip the tile grouting process, it can impact the integrity of the tile adhesive, causing them to come loose and need replacing. Mapei Ultracolor Plus Tile Grout is made up of a blend of special hydraulic binders, graded aggregates, special polymers, water repellent admixtures, organic molecules and pigments.

This means, when choosing the best grout for your tiling project, you’ll need to consider the specific needs of the job. For example, interior decoration projects where you’re concerned with aesthetics alone will likely lead you to choose a different option than that of practical outdoor tile installations. If you are installing one of our hard-wearing outdoor tiles, you'll need a grout that’s fully equipped to handle exposure to increased moisture and dirt, as well as extreme temperature fluctuations between the seasons. It’s also polymer modified, anti-efflorescence and rapid setting - not to mention equipped with anti-mould and drop effect technology, helping to prevent moisture intrusion and erosion over time, wherever you use it.At the other end of the scale, highly decorative products – like Mapei Kerapoxy Design - can add to a surface aesthetic and dry to a translucent finish that’s particularly effective when used with glass tiles or mosaics. The impervious grouts are available in a spectrum of designer shades and can even be enhanced by the addition of light gold or silver glitter, making a grout joint a design statement in its own right. In industrial environments or areas where hygiene is important, an epoxy resin grout will be required to offer the necessary chemical resistance. For example, Mapei Kerapoxy IEG (which is compliant with EC regulation 852/2004 relating to hygiene and foodstuffs) is resistant to animal fats, oils and grease, so it’s an ideal grouting choice for meat processing plants and commercial kitchens. Mapei epoxy grouts also emit extremely low levels of VOC, being classified EC1PLUS under the GEV EMICODE. For Decorative Purposes Grout can make a big difference to the look of your finished tiling project, so it’s important to choose the right one for your style! When working with White Tiles , white or grey grout can be used to create a smooth seamless look, which is often achieved with light coloured stone and marble effect tiles. Final cleaning of the powdery film of Mapei Ultracolor Plus from the surface may be carried out with a clean, dry cloth. If the cleaning operation is carried out too soon (the mix is still too wet), some of the mix may be removed from the joints.
