The lands are a bit odd as they are clearly Ravnica lands but they don't quite fit in with them as there is more in the way of storyline and action in these.

These really cool land were let down a little by poor quality printing, at least on the versions I managed to pick up.

Unhinged only features one artwork for each basic land, and as a "joke set", its cards aren't usually tournament-legal.

I also like how the MTG community have people from the inside, with the view of the outside looking in, if you know what I mean? Next up we have the experimental shift in annual set releases from big small small to big small big small with Lorwyn and Shadowmoor. If you look at the glared out cards at an angle or with brightness right down they are actually pretty clear. Whether you’re choosing basics to match the plane, the “vibe” or just ones you enjoy, you should branch out beyond just the popular Full Art lands.

The Guru are fakes given to me by someone taking pity on my quest to collect the basics knowing full well I couldn't bring myself to invest in them. The first entry on the list is one I’ve personally never seen anyone else play, but I simply adore it. It’s a gorgeous piece and the visible brush strokes add a lot of unique color to the sunset in the background.

While basic lands themselves haven't changed in how they play, they have changed quite a bit in how they look! These beauties also remind me of Unhinged since they feature so much art on the card that you think it’s a print the first time you see it. They have an almost entirely monochrome color palette with only a hint of the land’s respective color somewhere in the center. There’s no chaff or filler, just an island surrounded by the ocean blue, or a mountain with a totally red sky.

Best things about collecting lands is that most of them are cheap and yet are still good finds because so few places bother trying to sell them. War of the Spark was the next set and it was essentially a stand alone despite being on the same plane as the previous set. Theros Beyond Death went for something a bit different with just the singly cycle of full art Nyx lands in the main set. some will be higher just from higher demand, but if you just need basic lands to play, i see no reason why you shouldn't be able to get them for 1 cent each.
