My sample had sink marks on the long dorsal- canoe fairing, and lots of ejector-pin marks marred the bottom surfaces of the elevons. Applying the decals was tricky, as they were very thin and didn't want to move once they landed on the model. Included in the box are enough decals to reconstruct an individual model for everyConcorde ever built, and specific ones forrecreating the record-crushing G-BOAD version. While I have the Heller boxing of the Airfix 1/72 kit (which is also the Revell kit) I hear the fit is far from fair. The Revell Concorde British Airways in 1/144 scale from the plastic aircraft models range accurately recreates the real life supersonic luxury airliner used by British Airways. Intricate andcharming, this scale model airplane kit offers a challengingbuild befitting this lightning-quick aircraft.Each piece is inspired by an ancient endeavour and given its own unique story with an age-old aesthetic to evoke feelings of nostalgia. Passenger flights started operating at the beginning of 1976 (transatlantic and middle-east routes). The fit won't matter much if you build a diorama of a charred mangled hotel with pieces of the Concorde scattered about. Airfix's (and Heller's - soon-to-be released with Air France markings) new Concorde kit provides a great addition to the small but significant line of 1/72 scale airliner kits.

The integrity of the mechanism that allows the nose to droop is compromised by a complex design and the combination of soft white and brittle clear styrene. The kit also has some aftermarket too - Airwaves resin wheels and tyres, Extratech photo etch and newwear paint masks. Concorde marked its place in the history books as the first supersonic passenger-carrying commercial plane, reducing the flight time from London to New York to just 3 hours by travelling at more than twice the speed of sound!

I didn't use the provided paint, but used a big spray can of gloss white Krylon for the overall scheme. The graceful deltas were expensive to operate and their sonic booms forced the carriers to restrict supersonic speeds for the over-ocean portions of their flights. Serious modelers will want to take more time than the 45 hours I put into mine to improve the fit, clean up mold marks, and perhaps try to make the hinged nose work better. Airfix doesn't provide a key for the different number flags in each step, so allow me: white number in black box is the part number; black number in white box is the decal number; black number with no box is the color number, which is cross-referenced to the chart on page eight.
