I definitely would recommend this book to not just people with anxiety, but to anyone wishing to change their thinking for the better. Now you are showering me with lectures that I can achieve ANYTHING, I can BE POSITIVE, I can have mental peace, I can do this I can do that. Sometimes pleasantries don’t do life justice and it takes a potty-mouthed counsellor from Texas to spell out some hard truths. When the world is burning, it would be disingenuous to imply that parking all of your worries and watching Netflix is necessarily a responsible choice. Maybe I was feeling cynical when I started this book, but I was not expecting anything that would be helpful for my chronic overthinking.

Overall, this book was a positive surprise, and I might actually give a go at preparing a thought chart about some things that have been bothering me lately.

As a psychological text, however, it is by no means as substantive as it could have been- and sometimes, the humour within it completely derails the entirety of the text. The author, Nick Trenton, is a behavioral psychologist and a former Navy SEAL who has experienced and overcome the challenges of overthinking himself. Through a series of careful explanations, readers explore how imbalances in the brain lead to overthinking.But, there wasn't any of that included in the book except a "give it god" snippet, which I'm not sure how to translate as I'm not religious. Or, you might “sleep on it” and discover that your brain solves the problem for you while you’re sleeping.
