The P-125a includes the usual dual voice, duo, and split modes. Duo mode divides the keyboard into two identical four-octave ranges, handy for teaching purposes, while dual mode lets you layer two voices together to be played simultaneously - like grand piano and strings, for example. Split mode, engaged by pressing the +Bass button, places one of the four available bass sounds in the left of the keyboard while maintaining the selected instrument voice in the right. The two share the same basic effects including four types of Reverb, Sound Boost, and Damper Resonance, just to name a few. Aside from the additional functions that enhance the P-255’s sound engine, Yamaha sprinkled a few more to it like the Rotary Speaker, Phaser, and Tremolo or Auto Pan. One thing I noticed though, is that the default piano sounds have too much of an acoustic feel. As a synths guy, I prefer my grand piano sound to be a bit jazzier and more electronic. The Yamaha P-125 has a more classic and acoustic feel. Another thing I noticed is that the hall sound and decay effect of the grand piano voices are a little bit too much. But you can always edit that if you use the Yamaha Piano app and connect to your P-125. Electric Piano Smart Pianist App (this app is absolutely amazing) adds a ton of features, there are also other useful apps available

It’s definitely not the end of the world, but depending on how you’re planning to use your instrument, it might a handy feature to have. Either way, you can always use your typical USB MIDI connection using some chords/adapters, it’s just with Bluetooth you would be able to connect to your smart devices wirelessly. When you reach the polyphony cap, the piano starts to drop the earliest played notes to free up memory for new notes, which in turn affects the quality and fullness of the sound. The Yamaha P-125 is a piano that offers a wide range of features for musicians. With 88 keys, it provides a full-scale keyboard experience. It includes a foot pedal input, allowing users to add expressive elements to their playing. It’s got 4 speakers (2 on each side), which is not something we often see on a digital piano in this price range. While there are some improvements to the piano sound of the P-125, honestly, I didn’t notice a big difference comparing it to the P-115.

The master volume adjuster for this instrument comes through a slider button on the left side of the interface. It’s hard to miss. You can instantly see it, unlike in other complicated keyboard dashboards where you need to bend over just to find where the master volume is. Built-in Speakers Things that I like the most about the new P-125 is its really great speaker system, natural piano tones, nice rhythm section, and the new Smart Pianist app that looks/works great and provides a lot of cool features not available on the piano itself. While most models from the P-series make use of the basic AWM sampling, these two are outfitted with the Pure CF Sound, generated from the world-class Yamaha CF grand pianos. The location of the speakers allows the sound to come out in both downward and upward directions, which creates an immersive sound field that envelops the player.

Despite its simple and extremely portable design, the Yamaha P-125A boasts incredible performance that you would not expect from a portable piano. It’s got the same high-quality Pure CF sound engine, which uses samples of the world’s acclaimed Yamaha CFIIIS 9′ Concert Grand. One of the problems that keyboard players usually face after buying a piano is trying to figure out its functions and controls. You won’t have that problem with the Yamaha P-125 Digital Piano. In fact, it looks very minimalist in its controls. No frills. You can master the functions in one sitting.

All substitutes

I think it’s a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a high-quality musical instrument that won’t break the bank. Sure, there are better digital piano’s out there – but you’ll be paying a lot more money for them compared with the P-125; so I think for the money, there is nothing else worth considering. With such a size, you can even put the P-125 on a table. There’s actually a special setting called Table EQ that optimizes the sound when the keyboard is placed on a flat surface.

So let’s start with the obvious features. This will hopefully give you a deeper idea of what to expect with this instrument, and what it offers right out of the box: 88-KeysJust like the majority of digital pianos in this price range, the P-125 comes with a basic box-style footswitch (FC5) that looks and feels nothing like a real piano pedal.
