There have been five light novels based on the series published by Kadokawa Shoten under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label. and Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star 1 is drawn in the four panel style ('yon koma') that is similar in nature to the daily comic strips that one would find in any newspaper State-side, except vertical.
