Pitch in a spot that gets a natural breeze: Sheltered areas are more prone to generating condensation. Pitch your tent so that vents are lined up with the prevailing winds. Venturi Vent System - Combination of air flows creates a more comfortable environment by reducing the build up of condensation. Air in the porch is drawn upwards as wind flows through the vent. Air moves from the rear of the tent to replace displaced air Good Points: After one practice it took about 5 minutes to get the tent pitched and ready for use, I decided to keep all the clips connected after my practice run as this would save time later and it did. it has a large interior for one person and you can easily fit all your walking equipment inside and if using it for two people it has a roomy porch area for use as extra storage, which you could cook in. It has enough ventilation and there was no trouble with condensation. It has a low profile so does not stand out in the countryside. I would recommend this tent for two people as you could share the weight, one person carrying this in the mountains would easily tire. Condensation can be made worse when the air outside the tent is significantly cooler than inside, especially after a warm, humid day. On days where there is a substantial temperature drop, it can be challenging to prevent tent condensation forming.

Did you know that 1 person can produce up to 1 pint of condensation per night? So, let’s say you have 5 people in a tent, that is potentially 5 pints of water inside your tent! Other likely sources of moisture are wet shoes, clothes, dogs, cooking, even the air itself! Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air, as the temperature falls at night the more moisture is released into the air. Fact, even without occupants, the air in a six-man tent holds approximately 1 pint of water! The biggest problem with the first generation is the porch. It doesn't meet the ground. And the little triangular groundsheet is next to useless. My rating is for the 2011 version. The tent is easy enough so as to be pitched by one person and can be pitched with the outer and inner still together so make things even simpler.OK let's be fair here. Vango changed the design of the Tempest after a couple of years. I'm a DofE Leader and I bought 8 Tempests to go with out 4 Banshees. I wish I'd bought Banshees instead. The Tempest is bigger (and a little heavier) so it's better for three teenagers, and it has a porch. But it doesn't perform as well in the wet and wind as the Banshee. The tent pitched in 10-15 minutes, really easy to do alone, which is great. Poles nicely colour coded so you can't get it wrong! The ground sheet seemed thinner than the older style sheets used in the previous Vango tents, but then I haven't bought one in years, so maybe it's just an upgrade of materials. It withstood the rain and muddy ground very well. I'll be interested to see if it is as long-lasting. What ever you go for, make sure the whole tent pitches in one go. Or at the very least, make sure it pitches outer first. Can't think of anything worse than having to pitch the inner first on a cold, wet, windy day! i say buy an extra tent and extra bag and strap it onto the the dog and make it carry it for you then give the dog its own room to stink up haha haha weemistermac no need to stay single a while longer, just means you'll get to snuggle up closer in the smaller tent

I bought the tent for use as a standby for my large tent and I used this tent for wild camping in Scotland and the ease at which the tent went up amazed me (as a seasoned camper). You can cook in the porch but there isn't much room. Nobody could get past you if you were cooking in there.
