For gaming, these headphones don't require a lot of power and therefore you shouldn't need an external AMP. My Xbox controller is more than capable of powering them, as well as my Switch and PC's onboard audio. The audio quality is excellent, with a great soundstage and accurate positioning for game audio. With games like Battlefield V that have great sound processing, you have an almost aimbot level of positioning. I could clearly pinpoint enemies distance and location with these headphones and whilst they won't improve my aim, they certainly help locate them faster. They trade blows at every turn but the better staging kinda edges out the HD58x. Some may prefer the slightly better imaging of the HD58x and the more intimate staging, but the weird 3 blob shape really hurts it in games and its benefits don't really make a strong push for it for music, unless you want the HD600 series sound but need to spend less.

Drop + EPOS PC38X

It isn't removable which I personally don't mind because this isn't something you're going to be wearing outside anyways. Thankfully the flip-up mute that is featured on all Sennheiser (now EPOS) gaming headsets is still here. I really wish I could give these 5 stars. The unfortunate reality is that I noticed problems on the right side early on. About 2 weeks in. The audio would cut out but return. I thought it could have been a lose connection so I didn't think much of it. 2 months later it became a recurring issue that could be remedied by physically pressing on the right ear cup. Now it's really grown to be a frequent problem that I choose to deal with because I spent over a 100 on these and not to mention I really liked the idea of the headset. While it's not massively dissimilar to the GSP 300 headset above, the GSP 500 does manage to distinguish itself in some key areas. First, the microphone is excellent. Really excellent. As soon as I started using it, my teammates commented on the quality and clarity of it. These have a reputation for balance. I say they embody that in many ways. Balanced EQ, balanced price for sound quality, balanced weight. They were perfect right out of the box.If you own an HD599 don't upgrade to the PC38x just EQ your HD599. But overall the PC38x is a better headphone than the HD599. The HD599 with a bit of EQ is slightly better for fps. But the slightly compressed dynamics are kinda good for gaming, so things like explosions or gunshots won't overwhelm what you are listening for. Gaming headsets shouldn't be hard to drive properly. This general understanding continues with the PC38X. I rarely ever keep my amplifiers in low gain, yet that's precisely what I did with the PC38X, as it sits in the sweet spot of the volume pot, on all of my amplifiers. You really don't need much. The PC38X sounds great off anything you hook it up to. My recommendation is a neutral, clean sounding dac and amp, regardless of power. Something to further aid its sharp detail and focused sound. To anyone worried about numbers, the PC38X is 28ohm, at 108db SPL @ 1khz. Very efficient. The PC38x is going to be the king of “Gaming Headsets” and I can happily recommend this, for console use this would be my go-to option since it is an upgrade from the PC37x. But if you only care about Sound quality maybe pass on it, if you only care about FPS performance and don't care about good sound maybe skip it. But if you want a perfect allrounder or god-tier tuning, then this is perfect. The conclusion is fairly simple. This is simply the best gaming headset on the market. If all you care about is performance in games (mostly fps) then this is an easy buy. Even in terms of just gaming for fun, it does fairly well because of its great neutral tuning. Frankly, I'm not a huge fan of aesthetics on the GSP line of Sennheiser headsets, so I'm quite thankful the PC line of headsets exists, as I find them to look much more elegant and classy, compared to the bulkier, gamery nature of the GSP line. Personal preference, of course.

Sennheiser HD599: le HD599 hanno alti pazzeschi ma mancano di bassi e secondo me, per quanto ne dicano i Prodigeek che le consigliano sempre, non sono cuffie per giocare, quindi molto meglio le PC38X per giocare... tanto più che il microfono va preso a parte.... per la musica secondo me pure ma lì va più a gusto e dipende pure dal tipo di musica. Le HD599 però sono enormemente più comode da indossare. The design is similar to the 300s, sure, but the build quality is also great and worthy of the price tag; it's excellently solid, robust, and clamps to your head and ears incredibly comfortably. Even the suede-y ear cups are lovely. And on top of that, you of course get premium Sennheiser audio quality to go with it. Pretty much it's the same comfort as the PC37x but with a slightly better top padding as its split mesh (split top pads leave a space at the very top so you don't get a hot spot there). But this padding is less dense so no break-in time is needed but it will wear down faster (because the clamp is high it's not much of an issue). The spacious soundstage, sharp details, great tonal balancing, top notch extension both down low and up top make the PC38X a prime candidate for best gaming headset. In virtual surround, the PC38X is among the very best I've heard for accuracy, positional awareness, and object definition. Testing something like Call of Duty's Warzone with both Dolby Headphone 2, and Creative's SBX, I was extremely aware of where all my enemies were coming from, and where all the loot was in my general vicinity. For the PC38X, it's a very simple matter. Just stellar positional cues, soundstage depth, and great imaging. Rest assured, the PC38X is a monster for gaming. You can't do wrong here in choosing the PC38X for all your gaming needs. At this stage there isn't a lot to say about the standard Sennheiser gaming mic, it is getting a little dated but still performs very well for a gaming mic, but moving forward it should be improved, or at least a foam pop filter should be added to help with plosives and wind noise.

I have had multiple gaming headsets through the years. It started with the Turtle Beach X12 on the Xbox 360. I've used the TB Stealth 600's for the PS4, and most recently I used the SteelSeries Arctis Pro + Gamedac for the PS4 and PS5. I can confidently say this headset demolishes all of them. On that note, the presentation of teammates' voice audio is also great in the GSP 500s and better than the 300s overall - voices can be difficult for gaming headsets to master, but the GSP 500 is one of the best Sennheiser gaming headsets for this. All in, the fact remains that the GSP 670 is one of the best Sennheiser gaming headsets - and a seriously excellent gaming headset, period. Sennheiser is known for their great headphones as well as microphones. Thankfully, the PC38X continues this well known fact. I wonder if anything has changed from the PC360 days in terms of the microphone, but regardless, it's fantastic, and should keep your voice quality clean and clear. As you can hear, just like the sound coming off the PC38X's drivers, the microphone is pretty clear, with no sibilance or compression. I don't think anyone would have any real issues with this mic. Clarity is overall fine but it doesn't do an amazing job with Micro Detail as it has a sort of dull edge to it. It's not a low res headset or anything. You also won't get a lot extra out of it with better source gear. Since it's fairly efficient and easy to drive it doesn't have a lot of scalability.
